Doesn't appear any signings are close for #Barnsleyfc - some interesting stuff on transfer process at club from Paul Heckingbottom.
I think "appear" is the key word there - how many times have we heard Hecky say nothings close and then we announce a signing two hours later. I almost feel more optimistic than when he seems enthused about something being close.
13 days to go Club are doing their best It's very difficult to sign players (Insert name) haven't signed any players Have I missed any?
Work - if possible - should have been done before the transfer window opened. All bases should have been covered - whether there was new owners in or not. From the outside looking in - it looks like the club is floundering compared to other clubs - and especially when compared to our near neighbours at Bramall Lane - who have already signed 4 new players. Jury is still out on the effectiveness of Ganaye. I'm not convinced by him at all so far.
There's rumblings within Bramall Lane apparently about the quality of signings and whether the board have backed Wilder sufficiently - they've signed an unproven youngster, 2 lower league players and a midfielder. Quantity doesn't always equal quality.
Ya ffs Nudge the Reds don't sign player's over 27(we've learnt our lessons from that, and so will them from Bumhole Lane when they have to get rid of over aged crap with no sell on value every couple of years) It is easy to get players that no one else want!
We need to mention the last point if we are talking about signing players. It would be like talking about the Flintstones while ignoring Fred.
I wish people wouldn't keep saying this. Is anyone actually listening to Hecky? We haven't got time!!! The sooner these players are in - the sooner they can be trained up to fit into the team. For example - we are desperate for strikers - but Moore was sat on the bench on Satdi.
I'd rather we signed players that would improve the squad on 31st January than sign players now for the sake of it
If the players you deem as being the ones you want, can't or wont come to the club - what exactly should the club do? Bring in dross to people can say 6 months from now "Why did we sign him?"
Absolutely - so far there have been 24 loan or transfers in the league. With 80 departures. So on average that is 1 signing per club - teams like Sheffield (4) and Leeds (4) have done more business. But in general it would show most clubs are in a similar position - 1 or 0 signings so far. Seems like it’s a rarity to do early business. So either nearly every club is “underperfoming” or market economics dictate that movement will increase towards the end of the trading period....
I agree with you in principle, but Hecky made the right call on Saturday and as a result we took a well-deserved point. Wolves wasn't the right game to go 442 or to drop your leading goalscorer in favour of an untried, untested new recruit.
We seem to have been quick enough to get some players out on loan, but it seems odd to do so when we don't have replacements already lined up. Cameron McGeehan is particularly surprising in this context, especially with Joe Williams now being suspended for two more games and Gardner out as well.
And you know it wasn't being done, yeah? Seriously, oh font-of-all-knowledge, how would you go about recruiting players if a) you can't find the right players, b) if you do, they cost too much, c) if they're affordable, their wage demands are too much, or d) they simply don't want to sign for the club?? (drops mic, sits back, cracks popcorn)
Just listened to it and he doesn’t say anything about signings not being close. Just that he thinks we’ll be more active at the end.
