If we go with Potts and Moncur, Veela will have declared by half-time.

That's what I'd go with, Moncur in for Bradshaw in a 451

I agree about quality over quantity but I also think we have left ourselves short for Saturday. I'm not sure if we loaned players out expecting to have people in or we just hoped nobody would get injured or sent off while we got people in but I just think it's poor.

We might go win at villa but if we get hammered people are going to be asking questions why we've let people go before we've brought replacements in.

    I disagree, HT.

Everyone’s viewing this in the context of Williams being suspended which is ridiculous.

If Williams were available for Saturday then presuming we play a central midfield three then there would still be Potts, Mallan and Moncur ahead of Bird.

When both Williams and Gardner are available, do you think we'd benefit from only playing one of them? Not a criticism of either, I just think in some of the games they seem to do the same job and keep us a bit deep at times. Gardner was much more positive last week when alongside Mallan. It might be that Mallan made the difference to be fair.

It's pure stupidity. He's got us into a position where we are without a defensive midfielder because of ONE player unable to play due to something out of the clubs control. That's a disgrace. We are a professional football club in one of the best leagues in the world and that's how the football part of the teams run. He knew on the 31/08/17 that on 20/01/18 that GG couldn't play. Yet we are in this position today. Plus for the gullible and ar*e lickers. 06/01/18 was the day Williams was sent off. In two weeks we haven't signed anyone.

Obviously that’s not for the want of trying. You speak as though you’d accept anyone provided it’s a defensive midfielder. As I’ve said previously, it’s a long season and it’s about getting the right bodies in who can contribute throughout. We’ve had bids accepted, had bids/offers rejected, been pipped to the post and have irons in the fire, it’s a typical transfer window.

It's rubbish. We should have had this sorted. He should have a list of players available that we can move on. Saying that this is from the guy that says such things as we need another striker then loans out one of our own without a idea of getting other in.

Saying that, at least we can have 18 players on the bench, right?

Can’t wait for him to sign his new contract tomorrow. He bloody deserves it for everything he’s done the last 18 months. He’s the lifeblood now of this club.

As the poll on here helped illustrate. Something like 95% of fans are behind him completely. That’s incredible.

When I hear that ink has touched the paper, I’ll have a little smile to myself. I hope Hecky is our manager for the next two decades. And I can’t see any reason why he wouldn’t be. 95%+ of Barnsley support their own. Long may that continue.

Said same after wolves game. Gardner was much better for having that role all to himself.

I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Is that a response to my post or a dig at PH/the club?

Have you ever considered that there may be players on our “list” that also happen to be on a “list” compiled by other clubs, maybe even clubs that are more attractive than ourselves?

If he does I hope it's before the u23 match so I can see if I can catch him and ask him why he's done and said certain things.

Why he says about the 18 subs or the club needing a head of recruitment when it's clearly a lie.

Just the things the press should be asking .

Come on Hemsy that’s really poor.

When he said we could only have 18 on the bench it was a mistake that held no significance to anything.

Remember when you were adamant for weeks on end he had broke a club record for a winless run of games? You said it multiple times on various social media platforms, id imagine you definitely remember it.

    People make mistakes.

    We've won 1 of last what? 14?

Quite a few of those games have included 2 defensive midfielders.

Do you think not having Gardner or Williams is going to make a hell of a difference to the outcome at Villa?

We score a goal a game. That's more pressing than being without a defensive midfielder for a single game.

If we had something going forward we wouldn't be worrying about who we stick behind the ball.

Williams doesn’t understand the role. He’s a good player and can tackle but that’s not everything in that position.

He chases way too many balls.

It’s a fault of his which has allowed a number of long range shots at goal any many this season have gone in.

The Saiz goal was the most noticeable but he’s been doing it all season. Reading away was bad as well.

Gardner screened the defence properly on Saturday. On the few occasions he went chasing he got the ball. Williams chases everything. It’s a problem Scowen and Ben Pearson also had when they were asked to screen the defence. Enjoying tackling does not make you a defensive midfielder. It always baffled me when people pigeon holed Scowen as a defensive midfielder just because he could tackle.

I have to laugh so excuse me Phil....it was only the other day you were saying the u23 were playing well....so if that's the case why knock hecky when he gives them the chance to shine ...who knows one of the younger ones could step up and save the club a few Bob...
That said it's clear as the nose on anyone's face that you have issues with HECKYS style of management...you are of course welcome to your opinion but please give it a rest by constantly bemoaning hecky..we get it you don't like him so stop having a go at the bloke every opportunity you see fit.
What's the point of having an academy if at some point you aren't prepared to give them a go.
Yes we've let players out on loan but there's a bigger picture at stake here it's called the future.... the lads who have gone out might be in the club's eyes stagnating in the u23s and need that extra fitness and experience
they arent going to get it if they are not guaranteed a regular start with the first team. So what better way is there to do it ...the club see an opportunity in an ideal situation we ought have the majority of the young uns out on loan but that means a bigger u23 squad which cost money money up to recently the owner didn't have.
The club might have seen a window of opportunity to get the players out there knowing they had confidence in those still here should the need arise for one game hence players were sent out on loan...
Or does that type of thinking not cross your mind....im sorry to say this but you are becoming tiresome with this knock hecky and the club if it does not fit in with your narrow minded attitude and thought pattern
    Give it a rest
The good doctor got accused and banned for hijacking every thread with what some deemed negative posts .... by all means post but wind your hatred in

I can't believe some people think we should be making signings to cover 1 game. Are they really suggesting the club signs a defensive midfielder......then leaves him out for the rest of the season when Gardner and Williams are back????......... Its ludicrous...........especially when there are quite able central midfielders in the 23s..........who will probably go on to much bigger things.........Mallan, moncur and potts will play.........and it's a chance for them to show what they can do.
