Hi everyone! New member here. I’ve been browsing the forums for a few years now and decided it was about time I made an account. I was born in 1998, the year we were relegated from the PL, and have been a season ticket holder for nearly 10 years. My favourite Barnsley memory has to be watching us win the playoff finals in the 05/06 season, and thus my favourite player can only be one man- Bobby Hassell. I may not have been a matchgoer for as long as the majority of the people in here but I can’t wait for all the trials and tribulations I have yet to experience!
Ayup pal Spent a year living and working in northampton (stayed in a high class joint called "the super sausage") around 86-7. Had some interesting nights out in that crazy old town.
Haha it’s still about today! Yeah, there certainly aren’t many places in the world like it. I honestly don’t think it’s changed much since 87 either…
Bloody hell can't believe it's still open. Used to work at Heygates. Was struggling to find work post-strike and I recall coming in from a sunday sesh and my mother saying "'i've got you a job, they're picking you up in the morning: your suitcase is packed and i've no idea where you're going". Cheers mum.
Hi I live close by in Towcester. Three of my grandchildren who are season ticket holders were born and bred in Northampton. One is now at Uni in London, the second, like you, is at Uni in Leicester and the third still at home in the town centre. It's a logistical nightmare getting everyone to Oakwell. For those not in the know the Super Sausage is a legend in these parts.
The super sausage was an experience. The walls of the bedrooms didn't even reach the ceilings. For some reason we used to drive all the way back to the sausage every day from heygates to have our dinner: faggots being a speciality.
