Not daft at all but it could have screamed of the time Davey played Campbell Ryce as a defensive midfielder/sweeper.

Those three in midfield need to have their best games in a Barnsley shirt to date for us to get something today. Huge pressure on them to not just work hard and graft, but be clever in how they do. Expectations well above their experience but we'll see.

Having Moore up front as an outlet when under pressure is important. But more important is that he should have Bradshaw close to him rather than having to fend for it himself with little support. Mallan's set piece quality could be crucial.

I hope that's a formation Hecky has chosen voluntarily - and it hasn't been forced on him.
Because it could have been - if you look at the substitutes available to him.
Just 16 1st team players available for selection.
It's all looking a bit desperate.

If Isgrove was fit then playing him in the Marcelle / bullock role it might actually work. Davey played hammill centrally and that was a disaster if I remember rightly. Now he’s aged a bit though you never know, it might work ok too

I'd have thought you'd have been pleased with that considering how you're reasonably against defensive midfield players generally.

I'm not against defensive midfielders. I'm against what constitutes a defensive midfielder in the modern game.

Me too. I’d have played Hammill instead of Moncur or possibly Potts but I can see why he has picked that team and formation

Hammill and Thiam to replace Moncur and Bradshaw in the 2nd half.

I've not disliked a player as much as Moncur since Frimpong.

With Gardner and Williams out whatever team we put out we’d be underdogs and 99 out of 100 times think we’d be over run.
Think Heckys though ******** to it and thought let’s go for it and maybe pin them back a bit by being attacking.
Might backfire but you never know could get something.
As long as we don’t get hit big time for goal average prefer going down trying than with a whimper.
Come on lads reward the positive

Funny old game football. Two wingers are missing from last weeks starting 11, one of them replaced by an extra defender, and it's viewed as a more attacking line-up.

Problem is the attacking players aren't good enough.
