I actually think what you have said is the key , we have to pick up points from teams around us , any win with these teams, are 6 pointers & so far in these games we are not doing too bad. Its a minnie league of about 6 or 7 teams & we need to finnish in the top half of that league
If Yiadom go including loans isn’t that 6 out? Some would be loans but if we recruit less than 4 or 5 then I’d say the only way is down.
The league table and results not to mention what I can see with my own eyes suggest not. The side is riddled with punts who just are not (yet) up to it
As much as I want them to do well and understand they're young lads playing at a higher level than they're used to, there's no proof of this. We do not have a good team and that's why we're 3 points off the bottom. There is still time for me to be proven wrong though thankfully.
What is it that makes you think that? I'm genuinely interested as from what I've seen with my own eyes and also our position in the table and inability to score, I don't know how you've arrived at that conclusion. I think all things considered they're doing as well as they can, but that doesn't make them good.
For us to stay up I reckon we are going to have to go on a run of 3 or 4 wins at some point in the season. I honestly don't think we have enough quality to do that. We need to make some quality signings in the next 2 weeks or it could be curtains for Hecky before the end of the season.
I think we have some good players, but need some real quality in midfield for starters. We need to start scoring more than a goal a game as well, how we remedy that I don't know but it has to happen or we're going down.
Fair enough. It's fine margins a lot of the time, meaning if they'd just stick away one or two of the chances they create we'd be further up the table with more wins and there'd be more substance to saying we've got a "good team". But, fine margins though it may be, we've consistently failed to win games and score goals this season and that to me is not the sign of a good team. As I said though, I'd love nothing more than to be proven wrong and for us to have a great February/March/April and stay up.
Getting a goal game would be a significant improvement. Since our last home victory in early November we've played 14 games and scored just 7 goals. One goal every two games. For every three hours that we play, we score 1 goal.
Agreed. But I'm not really talking about averages, more the games we score in. One goal is seldom enough to win it.
Hard to see that improving in the Fulham and Fowls games or at QPR but you never know football does thow the occasional surprise
Whoever we get in the management needs to be bolder IMHO. Arguably we were too gung ho early on and now we are too defensive. We are struggling to find a balance - not surprising given a team has been ripped apart and the process of rebuilding is in the middle of a relegation fight. Preston at home a prime example.
Yup, haven't scored more than 1 in any of those 14 games and it's produced just 1 victory. And it's not like you can look back through the highlights and see that we're missing sitters. There's some we should maybe have done better with but very few if any gimmes that we've fluffed. It's not just not scoring, it's not creating and that's a much bigger worry. You can remedy not scoring by finding one player who is a good finisher. If you're not creating then it's the whole team.
