    Very, very sad news today.
Rest in peace Mr Cryne and thank you for everything that you did for our Club.
It's clear that we would no longer have a club if not for you.
May you sleep peacefully and many condolences to the family

    RIP Patrick.

A sad day for Barnsley Football Club and, especially for the Cryne family of course. He was a reluctant "owner" and never liked the word, but he used his wealth to put the club back on its feet, and leaves it hopefully looking towards the future. Goodbye Patrick - the fans will remember you forever.

I dread to think what would have happened to the club if he hadn't stepped in. We might have had to start all over again or have been left in the hands of Doyle or Ridsdale. It's frightening how bad 2003 could have turned out without him. We will always be grateful to him for saving the club. It's his honour and epitaph to have been the owner when we won our first, and so far only, games at Wembley.
