Should stick a £1m bid in for him. Sure we'll have stuck a sell on in so surely we'd get bout 20% of it back.
Lad I mentioned, Tom Eaves is still knocking em in for Gillingham as well. They're going nicely up the table.
Ah yes I know that. Payne scored in the first minute. I was responding to Fitzy who didn't seem aware.
Yeah. I had looked at sky sports app on my phone. Hadn't seen checkatrade. All good though, I liked Payne and think we should have kept him a bit longer.
The jury was out with Payne for me. I wasn't convinced he was good enough for the championship but maybe given a bit more time he may have convinced me however I trust Hecky to make the right decisions.
I'm not getting into another Payne discussion because they normally go on and on. BUT Hecky picks quite a few players on a regular basis that quite a few fellow contributors would have out of the door without a second thought, so it's all about opinions. Heckys included.
Absolutely. I know I'm possibly in a minority but I like Potts (not on the wing though). I know Payne divided opinion in the same way and whether he'd have been a success at this level is a matter of conjecture and opinion.
I think Potts does some good stuff that gets overlooked in favour of fault finding. Some have made their minds up that they don't like him, and others just jump on board with the blame game. Not just Potts though. Gardner, Davies, Angus, Moncur, Fryers and even Hammill have been on the receiving end. At the end of the day, what we are doing with a team of youngsters from leagues one and two plus a few loanees is always going to be tough. Half a dozen games isn't enough for some of them to get up to speed, for some it could take a season at this level. Lots of clubs could save a fortune and do what we're doing, but they won't because it would put them in peril of relegation.
Interesting that we deem Payne surplus to requirements, yet then pay a fee for Moore. Maybe Moore is a much better all round player and brings more to the team, I don't know. But their scoring records aren't exactly dissimilar.
Really agree regarding Potts. Not trying to make out he's done anything particularly amazing to say he can make it at this level. But the stick he gets is completely over the top others often have worse games but he still gets it.
Always thought he was a peculiar one to let go so easily - on the bench a lot, looked lively with the scraps of substitute appearances he was given and then seemed to be off. Can only imagine he wasn’t happy warming the subs bench. Not worth going back for him though, I’d like to think we’re shopping in an ever so slightly better market now.
