I know the player tweeted it himself so we were pretty sure anyway. But just to confirm the deal is now off. Very disappointed. Lower all my transfer estimates by 10%
Ok chuck. Huge disappointment. We need to know what's happened - many of us must now be feeling that if players are turning us down then relegation becomes more of a reality.
I feel the anti climax now. I’ve known about this deal since before the window opened which is why I was confident we were trying to bring in that bit of extra quality. I know some will say how is he extra quality he’s unknown and unproven, but he’s a big hit over in France and clubs much bigger than us wanted him. Fair to say I’m gutted.
Must be a disagreement in what his role might be in the team and how Hecky expects him to adapt/play. Can't see it being a money thing as I'm sure his agent would have known the terms to be layed out well before him arriving in the country. Weird one tho this
Cheers RAC, thanks for putting your info out there, not your fault if they don't go through, keep us posted pal, appreciated.
Yes, not good, not a good sign at all. Without 3 or 4 better quality players who will roll their sleeves up then i don't reckon we'll have enough to avoid the drop. I pray the club are looking at quality loans now and are prepared to pay a bit more in wages for the privilage in order to achieve the aim of staying up. We haven't got nearly enough to stave off relegation as it stands gauged on the last three months, no way. Really can't see where our next win is gunna come from at the minute sadly. Then, should survival be achieved, we may become more attractive to these potentially hidden european gems hopefully. Thanks for the updates, most appreciated.
Why do we need to know whats happened , so we can find someone to blame ? The lads not signing , its not life threatening , show him the respect he has shown us, forget him & move on
Nah. Not going to ask. Wait for Hecky to say or if not just take it on the chin. I just hope the panic button isn’t hit.
Saving grace at the moment is that our fellow strugglers don't look to be signing players who will improve their chances of staying up. Sunderland have taken LuaLua on loan from Brighton, but without the quality needed around him, he'll find it tough to make an impact.
and once again the Barnsley 3 ring circus rolls into town... nothing changes does it. Every transfer window we 'Dick Dance' about and end up with dregs. UN.. FECKIN.. BELEEEEVABLE relegation nailed on.
Noone around us has really done much in the market so far.. 1 or 2 clubs have got 1 loan player in i believe.. We are already above them and started picking up a bit of form lately. We have a new striker and players like Thiam who could still play a big part. M-Henry might even provide something exciting if given a chance. Gardner will be coming back and williams game after with jackson back for cover soon. I dont see why everyone is so certain we are down. Sure, it be nice to get a couple of signings in a couple of areas but no signings doesnt seem to be end of the world. But Im sure we'll manage a player or 2 by end of window anyway.
It'll be interesting to see if one of these "bigger clubs" get him. Nailed on certainty I would think.
We’re out of the relegation zone as things stand. Yes we haven’t particularly strengthened as such in terms of transfers but I’d argue that we’ve considerably strengthened from within as players have become accustomed to the role and settled into the squad. We’ve signed Moore who looks like he could really add something to our overall game in that he adds that extra dimension in addition to the fact that he knows where the net is. We’ve also got Thiam who looks to be finally settling into the squad and is offering more each game. I genuinely feel like he’s a goal in open play away from bagging on a regular basis. Gardner is improving with each passing game, he’s forming quite the central midfield partnership with Williams and as a pair they’re the two that I think could provide us with a viable midfield two in order to operate as a 4-4-2. Cavaré looks strong at right back. He’s good going forward and equally adept in defence. Pinnock has seized his opportunity with both hands and looks an excellent proposition, particularly considering that he’s a left sided central defender who’s playing on the right. We’ve also got Jackson coming back from injury who was performing fantastically well prior to his injury, not to mention MacDonald who is now on the right path towards competing for a place in the first team. My point is that it’s not all doom and gloom irrespective of whether we actually sign anyone. We’ve got the makings of a good side and I have every confidence that the players at PH’s disposal wiil step up and guide us comfortably to safety regardless.
I doubt very much that we’ll be in a relegation dog fight. I’ve seen enough this season to indicate we will top the 50 points mark.
Good, positive post. I'd also add that with Mallan we have someone who could give us an edge at set pieces. Maybe a two man midfield combination of Gardner/Mallan or Williams/Mallan isn't too far away? Not necessarily against the stronger outfits, but might bag us some points in February? I also agree with Xerxes. Call me optimistic, but I can't believe there aren't three teams worse than us.
Current rate suggests 44 points. We've one win in thirteen and scored six goals in those thirteen games. We're very much in the relegation dog fight. Have been since day one.
I agree with everything you have said , we have signed two players who you would expect to be influential & I think it easy to forget that Cavere only made his debut at Sunderland the other week , so there is an argument to say that despite him being signed earlier, it is still akin to having a new player, which if you were to add a couple of late signings we would have five new faces , we are still just keeping our head above water & hopefully we will have enough in the squad to get us over the line
