For all the stick he gets, he's played 418 professional games for 9 clubs over 15 years, so he's well set for comfortable retirement in a couple of years. Good luck to him
Like quite a few that we signed at that time, a lower league player. I don't get all the stick he and others get. It's not their fault they weren't good enough. BFC decided we were going down that route, and Wiseman, Perkins, Dawson, McNulty etc fitted the bill. They weren't going to turn down the chance of Championship football just incase it didn't work out were they?
I suspect the thing that rankles with many are his comments when he left about never liking it from day 1 (paraphrase)
I’d disagree that he’ll be set for comfortable retirement in a couple of years. He’ll have earned no more than 75-100k a year over the last 10 years, if not less. The way footballers spend money, I’d guess he won’t have a pot to piss in when he finishes. He’ll end up selling insurance and people will line the road shouting obscenities at him when he drives by.
I once saw Scott Wiseman in Red Brick at Batley , he was with his wife , he only turned his back for a second and he’d lost her in the pans section .......that’s a true story
Depending on his spending habits and his mentality towards saving you would hope he's had the sence to invest wisely ...hence I jokingly asked was your comment based on Inside or your observation to his spending info lol Please note it can be a tad embarrassing on Dragon hall steps....i know to my own previous short comings lol
Keith Hill must be running a different version of the spreadsheet. His formula says: IF(age>30,AND(previousclubs=Rochdale),outcome=BUY) whereas Hecky's says IF(age>30),AND(previousclubs=Rochdale),outcome=NO ******* WAY)
My mate who lives near Gibraltar was telling me about the setup of professional football there. It's fair to say that any man under 35 with two legs could at least get in the squad for one of their league clubs, of which there are an extraordinary number for somewhere considerably smaller than Rotherham. About ten I think. The most successful of which is a Lincoln City tribute team.
Ah right. I remember reading somewhere that Mike Flynn wasn't enamoured with his stay at the club, and called our fans "a strange lot"
