we're just not good enough at the moment. Survival touch and go. For me it's back to basics on the field before focusing on natty formations and sophisticated game plans. Let's stop the other team from playing first, close down - tackle in. Going forward, we need to run at defences - take people on, find space. Pass to a red shirt. Shoot on sight, get in the box, get good crosses in. Sounds like a load of cliched, trite, glib stating of the bleeding obvious? Yes. But it works. Oh, I nearly forgot - put some energy, enthusiasm and thought in too.
I'm worried Gardner and Williams might still be at Loftus Road as we speak 'cos they would have had to reach the halfway line in order to get off down the tunnel.
Like the Wolves game then, with a goal or two on top. Need that kind of urgency every match from now on.
playing to Heckingbottom's tactics then, whem Mamadou did that last week he got slated to hell and back.
Neither you nor I know that. When we had decent central midfield players they never played like that in the same formation, under the same manager. Surely these poor little lambs should have some gumption, energy, enthusiasm and drive of their own, like the OP called for?
I’d rather we had a go and played our own way than worrying about the opposition, particularly when the opposition isn’t that good.
Certainly looks like we're relying on there being three teams worse than us, the teams that have been at the bottom all season are having a bit of a revival, and there's the likes of Wednesday who look like they're in freefall at the moment, going to go to the wire unless we can start to find the back of the net.
Totally agree. When we have the ball we do need to go for it in a committed way. My concern is getting the ball and keeping it to allow that to happen. At the moment we stand off too much. We have to nick the ball by pressing the opposition into mistakes - when the ball is won, then go for it. My worry is about how much 'footballing brain' talent we have in the squad.
I don't believe that we have poor players because we have all seen some excellent football at times,we all know that Hamill can be brilliant and that Davies can be one of the best goal keepers in the league (what is happening to the TEAM I can only put it down to one thing now and that is the guidance or lack of from the management team. Ive thought in the past that we haven't been good enough Not anymore something has gone terribly wrong . eg Hamill 1 goal this year I'm guessing that this is his worst season in his career We don't mind looseing if we play our best and give 100% on the field sadly this has been lacking in the last 18 months something has to be done to stop the rot
We need to play like we did under Flicker during that incredible run ie direct, high tempo, not giving teams a second on the ball.
That’s the problem playing 2 holding midfielders setting up hoping not lose n hoping to win on the break. Not over committing or lack of creativity from midfield is killing us as a goal scoring force
My hope is that the recent signings, not only add talent to the squad, but also positively affects the mindset. I'm optimistic, on paper the signings look constructive. I haven't written off a revival to get us safe. The margins are so fine - its in the players' hands.
We need to play the Flicker way! Before Hill got sacked it was all pretty similar, tippy tappy, over cautious. The thing is, we are most successful when we play with the up and at em attitude. But every manager we have seems to change it, why? When Flicker kept us up I thought we were finally going to push on, but he completely changed things.
