"The former Darlington, Bradford and Barnsley defender becomes Leeds' seventh different first-team boss since 2014. Following Heckingbottom to Leeds will be his backroom team of first-team coach Jamie Clapham, head of sports science Nathan Winder and first-team performance analyst Alex Bailey." I know when Patrick was owner, they put in place a system that meant if the Head Coach left, the system would continue with someone else taking over as Head Coach. The fact that the entire back room staff have gone - how can there be any continuation?
I was wondering the same, who's left to manage the squad over the next few days? Big game on Saturday and it's the timing of Hecky's departure that bothers me more than his departure. Players, managers, directors and staff all come and go and it's unrealistic to expect people to sign for us or any other club and stay forever. Who does that leave to manage the team?
Not as bad as it could have been imho. Nathan's a loss but if he'd taken the physio staff I'd be really concerned. The culture is still there which is why I think we'll get a 'similar' replacement to Heckingbottom. The point made elsewhere about raiding Loughborough is a very salient one.
Regarding backroom staff, we have one of the best physios in the game in Chris Sedgewick. He's very well qualified and survived the efforts by Hill and Flitcroft to have him ousted and has declined offers to entice him away from BFC. As for a sports scientist one of the best in the business is Jack Nayler the grandson of Keith Burkinshaw from Higham and ex Spurs manager. Naylor formerly of Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid and now at Celtic is one of the elite. Bearing in mind that these guys are paid peanuts compared to players and managers you only need to pay a little over the odds to get the best.
