My theory is that the new owners didnt offer him the wages near what he has been offered elsewhere. Hes mentioned in a few interviews that players coming here should come for other reasons than just money, so clearly the new owners are fairly money savvy which is understandable considering they said they would slowly increase the investment over time. I feel as though the owners offered him a contract that simply wasnt good enough, hecky wanted more but the owners wouldnt budge, leeds come enquiring about a manager position and he signed the contract with a release claus knowing leeds would buy it out. The new owners are clearly a bit naive as 500k is nothing in todays market. The owners have a lot to learn about running a football club.
They’ve dodged a bullet as he would’ve been hauled into the boardroom to receive his marching orders by the end of the month and then they would’ve had the fact that they’ve sacked “one of our own” hanging over them. We’ve been absolutely awful for a good 12 months. I think it’s definitely time for a change and I also think that a pair of fresh eyes and new ideas will do us the world of good in the coming months.
The next appointment is crucial. It’s in essence a £6million decision that the board are set to make. I imagine given the recent results that they’ve long had a shortlist drawn up so lets see what the coming days and weeks have in store.
Why not? Our record for the last year makes for awful reading. It makes perfect business sense to have a contingency plan in place or at least a rough sense of the direction that we’d take should PH leave by his own desire or otherwise.
ok...well here's my theory. Not long ago that Nixon reporter bloke made a comment about been concerned when managers change their agents (he didnt actually elude to anything)...now we know! Next we have a gaffer sacked sunday night and the media circus knowing hecky was taking the job on monday ...the very next morning!...with his entourage of staff. This has been well thought out for a bit by hecky and the agent...the change of agent and contract were very orchestrated as we're its terms....I read somewhere (leeds end) that they were made aware of the buy out option etc etc which was far more easy to deal with than paying off contract negotiations! Also we have another 3/4 joining him from our backroom...no way did they just decide on that Monday am!! Sorry guys...Hecky and his agent have had this one simmering for a bit and no doubt he has discussed it with clapham and the rest. My only seed of doubt is that he has gone along with the transfers...who i am reasonably reliably informed were HIS choice.
I think your statement might be a bit naive when you say the owners have a lot to learn about running a football club , when they already have had reasonable success with the team they have been running in France for a while now
Aye they'll have been expecting it. Probably got a list of potential replacements on a spreadsheet somewhere.
His new contract was worth 7k a week . I think that was ample and an improved contract . Lets not forget he'd have been sacked at any other club so he has got a lot to thank them for .
Oooooh not to mention...how he deliberated over signing a new contract (until he then did it via a change if agent).
I assume by owning the club & over seeing the running of the club they would have gleamed some knowledge , certainly enough not to be classed in the naive bracket
My theory. Hecky went home in a nark after the Fulham match. Wife told him he doesn't get paid for that 5h1t ( arguing with fans). He thinks "she's got a point, I could get paid a lot more to take 5h1t". So he says to GG (who is greener than a green cabbage) "let's get this new contract signed". Gets himself a new agent to seal it in his favour. Deal with Leeds done almost in parallel. I reckon apart from making his mind up fairly sharpish that he was off, he decided also to make it as cruel as he could. Turned against us big time. Don't think the spat with the fan was the sole reason, but it was the tipping point.
He's gone from hero to zero inside 24 hours. Unfortunately now as toxic as Chris Morgan in some Reds fans eyes. He needs lessons in PR. He's handled his defection very badly.
