One of the top wealthiest boards/clubs on paper in the championship(i.e us) were to get relegated at the end of this season. Sadly, this is what happens when money and quality is not injected in nearly enough all of the playing staff, you end up playing at a lower level. If we do go down as is looking more likely game on game now, then this will prove to be the litmus test of these new owners. Regrettably, i can't see much international interest and selling of the club from back in the ale-house league so they may well have to dig a little deeper in their pockets than they had imagined. The english leagues aint like the french leagues by the looks anyhow and its proving quite a bit more investment is required to not only survive in the championship but to have any aspirations to push on to the top. We will wait and see i suppose. i just pray the board are looking at a tactically positive appointment if indeed there is one before Burton.
If we go down, we will be one of the strongest clubs in league one, with a competitive budget. I don't think it'll be any kind of test for the new board. The job will be a lot easier than operating at this level, but with higher expectations from our fans. The plan to become a comfortable championship club should allow for the odd dip back into league one, because you can't take anything for granted and it might take another relegation to kick start us again. I'd say that's when the test would come. If we did come back with a team full of players that were attracting attention. Could we do things differently and keep them?
They've been in control for 57 bloody days and you're already saying they don't understand the commitment or funding required to operate a football club in this country?
Best to judge the new board over 5 or 6 seasons at least. We’ll all enjoy what happens at Wednesday over the next couple of seasons as we see the ramifications of breaking FFP and not making it to the promised land.
Come on, they've had one transfer window, in which we've beat relegation rivals Sunderland to sign a premier league quality striker, have a word. <BUZZKILL>
surely its better to stay in the league than go down and try to rebuild and get promoted again the top teams in any league have to stay at the top of there game all year and ten a little slip can send you falling back to mid table. on todays first half performance we are as good as anybody in this league we just need to apply ourselves and put some effort in
all the board have done is sign the checks do you really think the frenchies americans and a chinaman know who we want or need in our squad
The personal wealth of the owners is entirely separate to the wealth of the club! Remember BHS, the mediocre department stores that went under? Owned by Sir Phillip Green - multi billionaire. Chien Lee et al have presumably bought the club to make money, not lose it. They’ve openly stated they won’t be pouring in a fortune.
