The Cowleys, Big Mick, Grayson, some of those on OUR preferred list. The lure of joining the fifth richest club isn't enough. Is there summat up? Are we only asking for a head coach again who won't have a say in final matters. I knew it's very early in the matter yet and Harsley may step up nicely, want him or not, and there doesn't appear to be a rush at the moment, but I hope we don't end up with the last on the list, the only one who will have us.
It's the fact we're in a relegation battle and that's the issue. If we were top half like we were around this time last season, there wouldn't have been a problem getting Grayson in front of Bradford or Danny Cowley. We might as well be League 1 with the manager that's gonna choose us. It'll still be an attractive proposition for someone, just not as many as it should have been.
Is that the preferred list of people on this board though? As far as I know the club haven't expressed an interest in any of those.
We don’t want them more like. And if we did want McCarthy we’re hardly going to come out and make him number one target at risk of putting off candidates coming in for interviews this week. 2 of them are also under contract at clubs so interest will always be denied from both parties whether there’s interest or not.
Sorry, I'm happy to be proven wrong, but how do we know Lincoln were approached? You just said that Grayson was on the shortlist then said you were just guessing. All I've seen so far is paper talk and guesswork.
Why don't we just leave Harsley as caretaker until Hecky gets the sack. Then we can take him back. Not that I would want him back at the club.
1. We don't know what the shortlist is. 2. The consortium has varying levels of personal and business wealth but does not mean Barnsley FC do. Not sure why this is so hard to understand.
C Although it seems to be a common opinion - could you explain that second point? Because myself and mi brother don’t understand that. Our understanding is this - a club has money available to it through its ownership. That is to say - a relatively poor owner will not be able to spend much at the club because they haven’t that money available to them. Patrick was always saying he couldn’t spend much on the club because he wasn’t that wealthy. Patrick’s reported wealth was about £60 Million. New owners reported wealth £15 BILLION. Now - as I’ve said in the past - the new owners are NOT going to tip a load of money in from the start. But they will spend on the club.
No they won’t just spend they’ll invest , big difference not everyone’s an Abramovich with allegedly plundered money to throw away
GG said they had 100 applications over 50 of which were worth serious consideration, there's 10 days until the next game. Don't think Mick was ever coming so can scratch that one, Cowleys may have been on the list of the club but to me shows a massive lack of ambition going for them. Grayson is more interesting, he was always fav for the Bradford job until we lost Hecky, but we have zero evidence the club approached him or that he applied.
