We're not though. We might have rich owners, but nothings going to change. Makes it a difficult for any potential manager. Being at a financial disadvantage isn't an attractive option.
Sick of both sides of this argument saying they know with certainty they will behave in one way or another. They seem the sorts to put in investment when warranted but sensibly. If we went on a promotion push I’d say they’ll probably use their financial clout to keep assets and strengthen outside our previous capabilities. To say nothing will change is as silly as to say they’ll throw billions at us.
I'm only going on what they said in their press conference, which was that the plan attracted them to the club, and that they won't be spending crazy money. Also, the January window was very sensible. Free transfers loans and a couple of purchases offset by sale of Angus to Hull.
Reading between the lines and reading all the comments coming out from Ipswich. They don’t need to go into length and detail about how the fans are becoming restless with him, crowds are dwindling etc It’s almost like they’re making an excuse before he’s even left. I think there’s more to this McCarthy link than we’re lead to believe
I really can't see Mick coming to manage within our current framework. Director of Football, however.......? If he'd want to uproot his family that is.
Complete hearsay? You have no idea exactly what is gong on behind the scenes really. Just let them get on with an appointment I say. It will be their decision at the end of the day so no point worrying about it.
Unless they give their new manager more money it’ll be same old same old imo. If they gonna splash anymoney they may ax well keep mick on and give him it imo
I would imagine his family are grown up and left the nest, and his wife is probably a Barnsley lass anyway.
His wife is Fiona and yes she's a Barnsley lass. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/mick-mccarthy-barnsley-boy-born-156503
"Our" potential wish list of managers might well not match the actual list of candidates on Gauthier's desk. I think we've just got to put our total trust in GG and the Board to get the decision right. If we are still intent on appointing a Coach as opposed to a Manager, that will seriously limit the kind of candidate we have managed to attract. Seen a quote attributed to the late Marilyn Monroe in a daily paper that seemed to me to sum up our current situation: " I believe everything happens for a reason. People change so you learn to let go, things go wrong so that you can appreciate them when they're right. You believe their lies so that you will eventually learn to trust no one but yourself and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together." Never a truer word spoken.!
How do you know all that??. That Cowley fella would take the BFC job in a heart beat.Tho I hope we do get a better manager than him/them.
We're never going to get foooooking taken over. Why would a billionaire want anything to do with a club like Barnsley, anyway? It's 10pm on transfer deadline day and we've hardly signed any foooooking players. Why would any good ones want to come to a club like Barnsley, anyway? Why haven't they appointed a new foooooking manager yet? As though anyone with a decent record will accept an offer from a club like Barnsley, anyway.
