We've got one of the highest banning order lists in the country. That also has a massive effect on things like segregation.

I think it was also mentioned on here, that our stewards are generally in-experienced at crowd control, hence one of reasons numbers were limited.

Although I can’t see how that stacks up - no less experienced than say Huddersfield or Bradford.

Yet theres more trouble on wellington street at closing time than there is post match.

There has been trouble outside bum hole lane all season.

Even v clubs where its not expected eg norwich.

The sty has been somewhat similar.

Im starting to get the impression Syp see the club and its fans as easy touches... easy overtime paod for. Easy banning orders which they get paid for...

Especially when you recall most the outstanding orders are for Vale away.

We need no more than the yellow areas shown here netting off. Then the blue line could be the line of coppers / stewards / St Johns. There is no need at all for them to congregate where the blue cross is, as that just encourages away fans to see just how close they can get before prompting a reaction.

I dont even understand why we would need even the yellow areas netting off -there is a huge gap between the stands much larger than the segregation in any other games we go away to, - also this idea of not selling aisle seats is just barmy - never seen that anywhere else

Agree. My suggestion really was worse-case scenario, Man U in cup or similar

Birmingham City fans are pretty notorious historically yet the police in the midlands were quite happy to have them sat a few seats away from the opposition at a highly charged local derby. Countless other clubs the country over have a few rows of seats separating opposing fans.
So is this really a 'police instruction' at oakwell?
    I'm far from convinced.

Do not get your point, its irrelevent what crowds we get to the council, they do not receive any cash incentive or income from the attendance, their concern is purely ownership

Ironically, our nearest capacity crowd as a modern stadium was against Man City in 2000. We won 2-1, and it was a real contest as City we’re challenging too.

I say ironically, as back then, City fans could be as much trouble as anyone.

North Stand was packed out with City fans, not a spare seat in sight. East Lower was full too. And yet no trouble at all.... sometimes you give them that cordoned off section, and they’ll encroach into it ‘because they can’. Leave the seating as it is, and generally they won’t do anything. Sometimes we create our own problems.....

They sold out their allocation though didn’t they? Don’t think their was option to sell-out the stand for them.

That still remains my favourite ever football match. I was only ten and the atmosphere was electric. I've never seen the away end so packed and it was proper Man City as well, the old school City following with noise and passion. There was trouble on the concourse with SYP, but you're correct, no extra segregation necessary. Wish I could find photos of the day, I've seen some knocking about before but none seem available now.

I can only imagine this segregation issue is SYP. Hillsborough and Bramall Lane also have huge areas netted off. Whole blocks of the more lively corners are often unavailable for their fixtures.

It was a fantastic day wasn’t it! We had to win and did so. It was packed out - front seats of North Stand all sold. It was a nice day with a bit of sun and like you say, no bother from either fans pitchside, just a bit inside.

To me, it’s all about the empty seats - if they’re not there, folk won’t encroach into them. If we’re not sold out, then fair enough. But if we can sell it out, then do so. I understand the front row is policy at most clubs to be empty. Same for East Stand - don’t segregate it. When it was the Brewery Stand back in the day it was never fenced off at that end.

But if they have been banned then it is a safer ground for all so increase the attendance .

I think the main objective is limiting numbers in the concourse. That's where the trouble usually is.
