If he shows loyalty and sticks with St Mirren one can only wonder at the accusations levelled at our new owners and how it can only possibly mean that there's something amiss at Oakwell, etc and how we've missed out on an up and coming manager. If he comes here - cheap option.
Ross being a bit cannie here. He's not turned us down, cos we would have heard... So he's, for me, waiting to see if he gets the job, after the other interviews. If he does fine if he doesn't then he takes st Mirrens offer and tells everyone he turned us down, so their fans love him... simple
FairPlay to him if he wants to stay. Great he goes up to the next league with one of the lowest budgets and probably similar to us probably lose the majority of his better players to other teams. This time next year probably wishes he made his move. If that’s all he’s using this for then he’s not the right man for us.
Or just suddenly being offered more money from his employer because of attention from other clubs and having a decision to make, maybe? Give him a break, ffs... Couldn't begrudge him seeing things through at St Mirren - for once that's a scenario where money might not dictate things. Promotion on his CV - yes please. Give the SPL a crack? Maybe, or then start to look who's coming calling for his services. You're confusing greed with ambition.
Whichever way we look at this it's likely the next manager will take on a relegation side and have that on their CV. If we were mid table we would be that much more attractive. Perhaps the in house solution is going to be the best one.
I saw the in-house solution last Saturday and it looked like more of what we have had all season..... here comes the new boss, same as the old boss..... no thanks
As much as I thought PH 2.0 did ok, I can't really disagree with this point of view. A new set of eyes and ideas from outside the club seems the way forward.
Purely playing devils advocate..... Should he stick it out at St Mirren he looks certain to gain promotion. I know little about how good his St Mirren side are - but should they be good enough to challenge for a Europa league spot (presumable finishing 3rd/4th get you there) - is this more of an attractive proposition than us? Guess its all if's and buts, but potentially he could be weighing up managing a mid/top team in the 3rd tier of English football vs a Scottish team challenging for Europe. (That being said it could also be a mid/top table championship team vs an SPL team with relegation all over them). Having spoken to Scottish friends who follow the leagues closely, they reckon this one would be a very good appointment.
Wonder what they could offer him extra? deep fried mars bar and a can of Irn-bru. Sorry, l've just read their 30 page thread on him on their forum and their views on Barnsley. Paisley, ******* Paisley - everyone walks around in steel toe caps so the needles don't ***** them.
We've had others managers come in with decent credentials. The only conclusion I draw is that it's always a gamble no matter how much research is done.
I hear what you say but if the ref had given the right discisions last saturday we get 3 points & peoples thoughts would be different , fine margins & its certainly a tough gig if you are getting judged on one match
True but there have been many games I have seen this season where a piece of luck went the other way and we drew when we should have won or lost when we should have drawn..... we have had the odd flash of great play but if we are relying on luck to go our way then we are where we are supposed to be in the table.....
I understand that but I am on about the one match because people are judging the caretaker on that game & how he might have been viewed if the ref had not cocked up & we got the 3 points , lets be fair, he has had nothing to do with all the other games this season
