Weirder things have happened, like signing numerous attacking midfielders and then not playing any of them.
So I had a dig round the games he's managed and he certainly does favour 4-2-3-1 as per the original post. The 2 generally consist of one out and out defensive midfielder and one central midfielder. The 3 usually have two wingers flanking an attacking midfielder, although he's occasionally played attacking midfielders or left sided midfielders out wide. That might just be due to availability though. He's also played 433, 4321 and 442 with the wingers playing pushed on between midfield and the front 2. Looks like good news for all midfield positions and forwards/wingers, less so for strikers with him generally not favouring 2 up front. Worsbrough Tykes selection might be pretty near the mark!
Anything has got to be better than the defensive tactics of Hecky. Especially prior to the 'defence bedding in'. The last few months at Oakwell the tactics deployed have been terrible.
