I hope he will embrace the strengths of some of our players rather than focus on their weakness.

I’ve never known a manager talk about the weaknesses of players in public as much as Hecky did. He was bordering on obsessed with what the likes of Moncur, Mallan, Mowatt and probably Knasmullner couldn’t do rather than what they could do.

I don’t think he ever criticised Joe Williams for not getting an assist all season.

I think Jose will be a breath of fresh air, particularly to some of our players who’s natural game has been broken down to suit what fitted Hecky (I accept that’s his job).

4–2-3-1 is apparently the preferred formation of our new coach and in my opinion that is the formation which our squad naturally fits into best.

Let’s hope he delivers. Come on you reds!

I’m happy with the appointment. Yeah it could go either way, but at least it adds some excitement to the club for a change. He can obviously coach young lads and will have learnt from JM, so let’s just hope he hits the ground running.

Wolves’ Manager Nuno has managed it, with less experience and he’s Portuguese too. Yeah they’ve thrown some money at it, but you still need a decent coach.

Let’s just see what the new head coach thinks.

Every player gets a clean slate now in my opinion.

    Davies included.

A fresh pair of eyes looking at them.

His tools have gone from snap on to draper, but let's hope he can still make them do a short term job..

I hope if he shows any faith in Moncur that said player repays him and doesn’t **** on him.

Great opportunity now for mallan, moncur, Thiam, potts to show what they can do now with the hecky shackles off. That goes for others as well - a new approach and style of play coming hopefully.

I don't understand the vitriol against Moncur.
I think he's a great player who has been constantly played out of position.
Hope he gets chance to show what he can do in a role that's he's comfortable with.

Looking back with hindsight, most of the players were shackled !

teams are only as good as their weakest player, changing your weakest player has bigger impact then changing your better players.

    Not sure what that means.

Brad Potts (arguably our least technically gifted player) was picked time and time again because Hecky felt height and presence was more important than someone who could get the ball down and play.

I mean that although football is a team game, of your 11 players on the pitch it is the player who is the weakest who has most influence on the team, and that improving him or replacing him will give you more chance of winning then replacing your best player, even if you are replacing your best player with someone perceived as even better. So, actually focusing on weakness is very important.

Hecky had lost the plot the season started reasonably well then after the norwich draw we went on a massive losing run. The more defeats the more hecky was flapping changing formation every game we even went 352 using wing backs for 45 mins against the 2nd best team in the league. He kept faith in Davies when he needed a rest his confidence was in bits. Changed team every game played players out of position bet the players were thinking hecky has lost the plot.
