Correct. I think they may have been surprised when he left, given the clamour for 'one of our own' to stay in charge at the press conference. But on the quiet, this gives them the chance to put the first of their (hopefully many) plans in place and make their mark. Small steps, but after the last ten days we should all feel good about this I think.
Probably not - it solved the problem of them having to get rid of a popular local lad if results didn't improve and now gives them a clean slate to bring in their own man - and they got a nice wedge of cash into the bargain as well - result for them I'd say. I also wonder how secure Hecky really felt and if the leeds job was actually a no brainer for him as he could see the writing on the wall
Agree Andy, something tells me this guy as been on their radar for quite a while, Hecky deciding to go to Leeds saved them the dirty deed of having to sack him.
Yep, they'd never have removed him voluntarily for fear of losing the support of the fans, when the club said they were "shocked" by his departure I gather this was more in terms being shocked by an unexpected Christmas present.
Fking hell if post on here needed proof nowt would get written and what did would be largely boring !
I can't see why they would be upset. From a football perspective he had become a moaning pain in the arse that didn't win football matches. From a business perspective, it's been a bit of inconvenience that they probably didn't expect until they had to sack him.
