    I don’t.

    I take racism seriously though.

Again you brush it off as it being not a serious issue. I now understand why you made the remark you did. You do not understand the seriousness. You need to educate yourself so as not to make the same mistake again.

Thanks for the advice. And there's me thinking I was the biggest, dullest, superior, fash-bashing, self-righteous looney liberal on this board.
I still defend my right to rip the living piss out of myself, as I do your right to the humour by-pass. Be good. :)

The best move would have been to apologise sincerely and then never mention it again.

The joking about it is beyond belief.

You're far from dull mate. Those of us that have met you will to a man/woman vouch for you. You dropped a big bollok last night in a badly worded joke, but it's gone and can't be changed now. Anyway I'm off out fox hunting, can't hang about on here. Any tips as to where to go?

So if I’ve understood this right, it’s perfectly fine for someone to post in the same vein as Mr C provided that they’re well known and that others vouch for their prior good intentions?

I find it absolutely incredible that this is being brushed off. I’ve read people say that it was obviously ironic but that isn’t the case nor is it an excuse.

The fact that the poster continues to joke about it is just pathetic, as are those who brush it under the carpet.

As someone else noted earlier, would the same luxury be afforded to YN, HT et al?

I’m not one of those who are ever offended by any and all content but the thread and the comments thereafter are just bizarre and have no place on this board.

If any contributor feels the need to post that kind of odious content to please their mates then please use the private chat function or send a text as opposed to bringing everyone on the board down to your level.

Re @redarmychris and his 500 likes post, at least he had the decency to apologise for what he considered a misjudged post.

If I had drunk a few beers and had a complete nightmare I would be mortified. You however appear nonplussed and are effectively saying the blame lies with those who didn’t get it. Not for me, rank content.

So Ian, if a player came to Stainborough and started spouting off in a similar vein would you allow it?

I thought it was a joke. A bad one, an unwise one, but a joke. As far as cricket is concerned, we all know the rules on stuff like that. I know Mr C, he's ballsed up and he knows it. I doubt it will happen again.

There’s absolutely no remorse though, not even the slightest bit. In fact, Mr C has made light of the event today which suggests that he doesn’t appreciate the gravity of the post, nor do those that defend him or post in a similar fashion.

Fair enough. Having met the lad on many occasions I have a different view, which I'm not going to change.

It may appear that Mr C is making light of the situation but no-one can know how he really feels. It’s very easy to sit in judgement of others and some seem to relish the prospect. The internet has provided millions of people with the opportunity to do so and the world isn’t a better place for it...

He's been unwise but he doesn't need educating. He's ok. Like all of us at some time or another, he's had a bad couple of days.

I get that but if he felt bad he should have laid low.... folks tried to explain to him but he kept coming back with the jokes..... apparently he isn't an idiot so maybe someone who knows him should explain things to him..... I'm not convinced though.....

Why does knowing someone personally have absolutely anything to do with it? He posted what he did in an open forum that’s accessible to anyone who’s so inclined.

You’re saying that he dropped the ball and knows it but he clearly doesn’t based solely on today’s content.

So it just goes back to what I said above, you’re free to post whatever you like provided that you’re well known and that others will vouch for you.

If it were I then I would’ve offered an immediately apology whereas we’ve seen nothing of the like. Why? Because apparently it’s all a joke, and that’s fine...

A bit rich that, coming from you.

I’ve also lived in big “cosmopolitan” cities, cities with a lot of non-white folk. London included. I still live in one now. I’ve also made a lot of non-white mates, some of whom I’ve exchanged banter with that would be classed as offensive or inappropriate if said in public or to people I don’t know. The issue is trust. Do the people you’re speaking to trust you enough to know that the words you’re using aren’t meant in the way they’re ordinarily meant. And vice versa when it comes to what other people say to you.

The big mistake you made last night was using a word you may use with friends as a joke, or use ironically, or whatever, on a public forum. At no point have you admitted this was a mistake, not sincerely at least. Instead you find it funny. Presumably because you’re so far up your own arse when it comes to your own sense of liberalism that you think it’s impossible for you, you of all people, to say anything out of turn.
