Because the better you know someone, the easier it is to judge their true character. What he posted was out of that character. Others have said that too but now I'm getting the flak for it. I know I won't change your view, and you won't change mine either. You obviously know me so you will know where I stand on the underlying issue here. Let's leave it at that.

 

BBS content has often made its way into the local or national press, for better or for worse. If that particular type of content had been picked up then it would’ve been published without a shadow of a doubt. Barnsley is already maligned by those outside of the borough and that sort of content simply adds fuel to the fire.

If such post was out of character then one would expect an absolute apology as opposed to what we’ve seen today.

What really makes me laugh is that we’ve got a queue of people lining up to defend him on one side and Mr C on the other side creating more threads and making a joke out of it. Absolutely bonkers.

But yeah, lets leave it.

 

you are getting flak because you are defending the indefensible..... if he had apologized and dropped it many hours ago there would be no flak..... instead he made many jokes about it..... not cool.....

 

It’s times like this the clique on this board really becomes apparent.

Anyone outside the clique would have been hounded out with a lengthy ban.

Their reputation would be permanently tarnished and said remark would be brought up constantly during completely unrelated threads.

The same people on this board who are defending a racist are the same people who jump on their high horse lecturing me about how I could cost someone their job or cause the club to miss out on a signing. Despite them knowing absolutely nothing about the process I go through for gaining and sharing information.

The next time clique member Stahlrost jumps on one of my ‘ITK’ posts I’ll be the first to remind him he was more than happy to brush his mates blatant racism under the carpet.

Mr c said a racist comment all his "mates" on here defended him, if that was other posters the pitch forks would have been out. He then comes on after a short ban describes what he did as racist fishing then makes other threads joking about it that's why it hasn't died a quiet death. No apology for what he put nothing. One of him mates on here described him as the most unrasict poster on here, I beg to differ.

 

Can we get a few things straight.
The gist of the offending thread wasn't intended to be racist.
The title of it was incredibly badly judged and could be construed as racist by some.
This board IS read by those outside the fanbase including the press and I certainly didn't want that thread title left up for all to see.
I fully expected MrC to make an apology the following day. We all do daft things. That would have been the end of it.
Instead he chose to try and laugh it off which leaves a very nasty taste with some, including me,

 

I worked over twenty years ago for quite a while with a black person and we became good friends, I innocently used the same word as Mr C to him in the context of a joke relating to our bosses at the time, even though we were good friends he didn't like it or see the intended humour in it. True story that I learnt from and I did apologise to him for but it has stuck with me all this time.

 

I was I a clique once with only me in it but i fell out with myself so I kicked myself out of the clique and wouldn’t let myself back in. I used to press my nose up against the clique door( or that’s what my missis calls it) but it was over. Sad days.

 

Go easy on the “sense of humour” bit.

 

It's a funny one really. So much stuff gets posted on this site that is unintentionally racist, or in particular, sexist. So much stuff. I usually let it pass without comment, and feel bad for doing so as I don't think I've ever seen anyone say, 'You know What, I see your point. Sorry about that.' I realised that during Brexit, and talking to people. These days it's very difficult to have real discussions without it being labelled an assault on someone's person freedom, or political correctness gone mad, on both sides of politics.

In this instance, I know the poster some, and he is probably one of the least racist people I have ever met, and a properly good guy, and was referring to the terminologyand views of a sizeable minority of Barnsley folk. It was misguided and a mistakeWhen drunk to post something like that amongst people who don't know you and so can't attribute irony due to knowing you and your past actions and character and the post should have been removed because of that( and was I see. )

Not sure what else to say apart from that, except to say that it would be nice if these people who are so outraged would now continue to speak against the many inherently sexist or racist posts that don't ironically use such terms as they come up in the future.
