    What’s your prediction?

I know he hasn’t been here long but I think he’ll get them straight into his reported preferred formation.

    ————-Townsend————-
    Yiadom-Mills-Lindsay-Pinillos
    ——-Williams-Gardner———
    Isgrove—Moncur—Hammill
    ———-Mcburnie———-

One thing I think we will see is no sentiment being shown to old favourites. JM won’t view the likes of Hammill, Davies, Isgrove ect like we do. I’ve read he’s ruthless in how he operates. Acting up and ill discipline, continuous bad form or persistent injury and some of these players may find themselves out of favour pretty quickly.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how things change.

Swap Moncur for Knassmüllner and I think that'll be what we go with.

Edit: When I say 'I think,' I really mean 'I hope.'

I don't think moncur will get anywhere near the starting 11.

I think if we use the 4-2-3-1 then we can get the best out of Moncur at CAM because that’s his natural position and not CM

But then we will have Mallan, Knassmulner & Moncur wanting to play there?

I wouldn't be surprised if there are no wide men in the 3 behind the front man. If you look at teams who use that system, the width is provided by overlapping full backs. The 3 are usually clever no.10's making nice triangles and darting runs on the edge of the box. Probably Hammill and isgrove will play because we lack that type of player, but not in their traditional wide roles

    This ^^.

I think Hecky's stubborn insistence that there's no such thing as a Number 10 has hampered Moncur's time with us. Let him be an attacking player and I think we'll see the best out of him.

How do you know he's better than George?

I think that is our strongest 11 at the moment.

Looking at his lineups for previous teams he's generally preferred wingers in those roles.

I suppose it depends on what hes got available.
However, I bow to you for taking the time to research his past team selections and the type of player he has been choosingc

That's probably pretty close. One of the 2 midfielders he's selected one has generally been a defensive midfielder, the other a central midfielder. I wouldn't rule out the CM being more of a deep lying playmaker maybe?

    We don’t have a number 10 that’s good enough.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts with a 4-2-3-1 & then reverts to a 4-4-2 & brings on Moore or Bradshaw to partner McBurnie at half time

To be fair I'm only going by the lineups and descriptions on transfermrkt. He has played wide midfielders and attacking midfielders in those positions, rather than out and out wingers.

I quite like the formation myself. It suits the players we have more than 442. The only issue for me is one less upfront.

Not sure anyone can say that. Under Hecky you can’t have seen any of our players in that position more than once or twice.

Its designed to beat teams who camp on the edge of their box and is used successfully by top premier teams with clever composed players. Im not so sure that there are that many championship teams willing to show us that respect, but as you say, it fits the squad we've got so its worth a good go

I’d agree with the team in the original post.

I’d say possibly Cavare could be in there. I thought he looked decent before his moment of madness. Clean slate and all that.

I rate Cavare. If he’s impressed in training he could get back in.
