All Defenders for Wigan have been immense

But they give it to Will Crigg for having 2 touches all game and scoring

I thought the same. I'm pretty sure that results like that only happen in England. Unfortunate for me that it was based on a bizarre refereeing decision. Not taking it away from a great Wigan performance though.

How does a team who lose the possession stats 17% - 83% win the match? That’s incredible.

By cheating to get an opposition player sent off.

I didn’t watch it but have just seen the incident online and it was a poor challenge but no damage was done was it? The way both teams harassed the ref was shocking though. It’s about time they had the power to send four or five off when that happens. It would stop it

I thought it was a good hard tackle player made a meal of it and the refereeing was truly appalling. Wigan played well though look a much better team than us which is worrying.

Delph was stupid and reckless. No reason to go in like that. Can understand why ref gave it.

I agree - its the sort of challenge we get players sent off for sometimes - more often than not its a yellow these days but I dont think a red was a bad decision - he flew in out of control studs showing and cleaned out the Wigan player - he gave the ref a decision to make

As for the MotM - tricky one but the guy did win the game with a superb goal - think I'd have given it to someone who touched the ball more than twice though

If his trailing leg hadn’t hit him I don’t think it’s even a foul. Half a dozen Wigan players should have been booked for dissent and ungentlemanly conduct. Glad Wigan won. Good on them.

Not saying I 100% agree with the decision, but everyone knows if you go in with your foot off the ground at that speed nowadays it always leave the ref with a decision. Even if you do get the ball. Can see why the Wigan players would complain. I thought red when I first saw it.

It was a sliding tackle, are they not allowed any more?
He kept his feet down and looked like he got the ball to me. A few years back it wouldn't even have been a foul. Harsh to send him off if you ask me and the ref was going to book him until the Wigan players mobbed him. Another example of all that's wrong with the game these days.

Pep was calling for the refs to protect his players more. He can't have it all ways..

    Agree with this.

My preference would be that tackles like this aren’t red cards but the rules are such these days that if you go in without 100% control then you are leaving yourself open to a red card, which is exactly what he did.

Maybe an overreaction from the Wigan player but the tackle could have broke his leg . Delph missed the ball in the tackle, went over the top and hit the opposition player, therefore without doubt straight red

His foot wasn't down though. Agree that it wouldn't warrant a red in the past but by today's laws it is classed as a red. Players know this, so they have no excuse for going in for tackles like that.
