FFS the way some on here are talking we are already mathematically down and our new manager doesn't have what it takes. He has had four days with the squad and whilst it sounds like the first half was very poor the second was a significant improvement. Surely we can give him a couple more games before we write the season off - We may well still be down by Easter if things don't improve but I'd like to give him a few more games before I give up and throw in the towel
totally agree Dave, but listening to the initial interview with José I cannot help but think that a step back to come back is not totally without his view. Its a very dangerous choice ,granted, but will the consortium go that way and come back... crazy money would not be that much to get up from L1. I have to wonder... If you listen to the interview that José gives , he does actually say its a long term thing. I wonder if that's the gauntlete the consortium has thrown to him.
For the first time this season I thought we looked a relegation side in the first half. Midfield nonexistant. Gardner / Williams and 2 wingers did not work. Prefer Gardner to Williams if we are to only play one. However Joses changes worked and what appeared a 433 nearly came up trumps. I would be happy to start with the team that finished because Potts with other 2 seemed to work and with Moore instead of Bradshaw.
I agree I'd start with the team that finished, but to the OP its no good putting up a fight in the 2nd half after that abject 45 minutes, it counts for nowt.
He hasn't helped his own cause. We lost our head coach after 1 win in 16. Our temp coach didn't get a win so that's 1 win in 17. Before tonight I think it was 18 games since we scored twice (Birmingham november 4th) and we expected better. We were home to bottom of the league, a team that's never beaten us and he kept everything that's failed for us for months the same. Same starting line up, same formation and same rubbish tactics. It's like watching a ***** 1990s Crazy Gang with our horrible long ball tactics. Players too frightened to play it on the floor and many going hiding instead of being a pass option. Crowd were quite right to be on their case for all the backwards passing and standing around with the ball slowing the game down, that we did.
I haven’t written either off just the fact that everyone to do with the club knows full well that we can’t play 4 4 2. Onwards and upwards as they say and 6 points from the next 2 games.
