Doesn't sound much when you put it like that, but could still be 100million Americans with at least one weapon. That's a hell of a lot of chances for someone to wake up in a bad mood and spray a class room.
Ha, you think it's funny. You should see what my wife takes to school with her every day ! A loaded Muller Rice, sweeties laced with arsenic, she says it's a sandwich.... I'm not so sure, pencils sharpened to the nth degree. Freetens me. Woe betide the kidiwinks (sorry, students, ffs) get their sums wrong.
The obvious next step then is to arm the kids. Then the school bus drivers. Then caretakers and dinner ladies. And then when everyone has a gun, absolutely nobody will get shot. Sound logic if you ask me.
Plus the thought of getting shot by the teacher if you don't get your homework in on time - that might improve grades a bit. Teacher now has no need to worry about distractions at the back of the class - he just puts his training to use and stiffs em if they're not paying attention.
Donald Trump has no more intention of arming teachers than you or I. But while the world is discussing this ridiculous suggestion, the very real need for radical stringent gun control in the USA goes unchecked, and right wing policies that keep the rich rich and the the poor poor pass through congress without debate. So we'll see Donald in a million and one photo opportunities with teachers and parents and kids and those who have lost love ones, and after all this consultation, all this style over substance, all this pretence, he'll do a U-Turn, he'll tell us he's listened and changed tact, he might even go one step further by limiting the availability of automatic assault rifles, and headlines will proclaim that common sense has prevailed, but in reality nothing will have changed, guns will remain as freely available as ever, the pockets of politicians will overflow with hundred dollar bills from the NRA, and the slaughter of innocents will continue unabated, fuelled by a media who treat fame and notoriety as one in the same: it's the only way to escape the mundane awfulness of a pointless life that means absolutely nothing. Why bother when you can sing a song or kill your friends. No one gets out of here alive kids, why not go out with a bang. X Factor or We need to talk about Kevin, it's all the same sh*t, at least we'll know your name.
I've argued gun control and the horrendous damage the Republicans are doing to America on other forums til I'm blue in the face. The staggering ignorance of some of Trump's base is frightening. They're willing to believe anything they're told, no matter how ludicrous and non sensical if it reinforces their bubble. It leaves you sad and dispirited to see how many people are willing to close their minds.
Armed and trained deputy Peterson was on site throughout the whole attack. His sole job was the safety of pupils and he was too scared to go into the building to stop the attack but Don thinks Mrs Williams a 64 year old geography teacher would go wading in with her AK46
yes and in a country with more than 300 million people the other alternative was Hilary Clinton...... pretty sad really
Waiting for him to suggest using RPG's or something similar to take out the gunman with 'acceptable' collateral damage!! Anyway turns out there was an armed officer on site and looks like he bottled it!
Did you hear the interview from the sheriff when he was asked what Peterson should have done? He responded: ‘Went in. Addressed the shooter. Killed the shooter’. Now to me, that seems wrong. Surely the last point should be ‘stop the shooter’ (I realise that may very well mean killing him) or ‘apprehend the killer’. The initial plan being to kill him could explain why cops in America kill so many people wrongly (and as someone said earlier could mean an armed teacher trying to protect the kids being killed by the police). I know it was pretty clear who it was in this instance but surely the initial plan should always be to capture if possible for questioning rather than the stock response being ‘kill him’.
