Potts has started in 22 league games. Results: W 6 D 5 L 11 - Pts 23 from 22 games. He also started in both league cup victories. Gardner has started 14 league games. Results W 1 D 6 L 7 Pts 9 from 14 games. I've not been a big fan of Potts, but at least he does drive forward with the ball at his feet, and he played well and made a difference on Tuesday.

A big powerful player driving forward from midfield - those stats are no surprise to me.

Potts is an enigma. Some games he looks awful and some he looks pretty good.

He does drive forward though which I do appreciate.

i've liked him from the off and not sure why he gets so much stick. granted, hes not a winger but if we play him in the centre i think he will come good.

also, i could be wrong here but he's our second top scorer this seaosn on 3 goals! i know Barnes got 5 or so but shows how dire we've been in front of goal.

I like Potts he seems a good lad with a bit of initiative. He would be in my team.

I said this last week, think he and Davies are the only ones who have. Potts has taken a lot of stick when he has been no worse than many others.

It's not the fact he's started that we won those games. Looking at the teams we have beaten should tell you all you need to know.

    Potts playing is a coincidence.

I'm not entirely convinced that Potts is the reason we won those games. However, his cameo at the weekend earned him a start against Brum.

My mate who’s a Blackpool fan said similar to me when he signed for us. He reckoned it was a 10:1 ratio of awful to pretty good games

Hopefully Jose can help him with his consistency. He showed on Tuesday he’s capable

It was a fairly popular opinion by their fans at the time that Potts wasn't very good.

However I can't understand how a player who has 4/5 good games a season (based on your ratio) manages to make the league 2 team of the year.

He showed on Tuesday he's big and strong and capable of giving a wholehearted performance. He didn't particularly show any signs of a skillful footballer.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with his performance against Burton and he was miles better than the majority of our players. But I already knew he was a big, strong unit, I was pleased to see him really give it a go, but that doesn't change the fact that he gives the ball away cheaply due to poor passing ability, he loses possession easily because his close control is poor and his manoeuvrability limited, and he's more likely to boot a cross into the stand than get it into the box.

On Tuesday we attempted to batter Burton in that second half by launching the ball long, so we brought on a battering ram in Potts. Credit where it's due, he did well in that roll. But let's remember that was against the club who began the game at the bottom of the league, who had played an hour of football before Potts' introduction, and were 2-0 up and only interested in defending.

I think we need more guile and skill than a battering ram to get out of this mess. The opening stats showed we won 6 games of the 22 Potts started. It also showed we failed to win 16. They're not the kind of statistics that are going to keep us up.

Agreed. We have pretty much zero in terms of central midfielders.

Our last escape from a predicament like this relied on honest toilers. Maybe with the exception of the enigmatic Mellis, it was a team of workers who got us out of the brown stuff. Maybe the current position calls for much the same, work hard and launch the ball to our two target men. We've spent all season moaning about the lack of a target man and we now have McBurnie and Moore.

I do hope we can get out of the mire as I don't think the league below is really where progress for us lies.

I rate Potts but in the middle not on the wing. It's good hearing him getting some positive reviews. Long may it continue.

I wasnt alive when England won the world cup. But all the world cups they have been to whilst I have been alive they havent won any. Maybe someone should kill me and we may win the next one. Joking aside, its going to take a lot more than putting Potts into the starting 11 to make us any sort of force.

This shows how desperate things are if we're pinning even the slightest hope on Brad Potts.

This statistic would have more relevance if he hadn't played so many games. I think you'll find Davies and Williams have also started in all six of the games won.

I reckon he's had so much stick because he looks way out of his depth when we have played him on the wing.
It's a shocker isnt it? The best place to play a central midfield is actually in the centre of midfield.
