Fantastic goals Fabulous players One relegation One cup win One promotion You can’t say it’s been boring being a Reds fan!
Agree with you , there was of course the relegation but the "take the rough with the smooth" cliche comes into play for me
Apart from the first 6 months of last season and a couple off flicker months every other season in tbe Championship has been awful, traumatic and pretty dull.
Come on Jimmy, I know you were there from 1983 to 1995. It wasn't much different. From the end of the Hunter team to the promotion season it was pretty uneventful.
Love them hooped socks from last season, them socks, white shorts, plain red shirt, and a gleaming white Oakwell with no shied, should be our identity on the pitch every season.
It was pretty uneventful, but we weren't fully extended to stay in the division like since 2006 when we came back up. Unfortunately the championship has now had the knock on from the premier league, and we haven't changed yet.
This run were currently on is hard to see past because its lasted almost a full season and half, or even two seasons if you only attend home games. Unlike in other seasons there has been little respite. When was the last time we'd only won 6 from 32 games at this level?
what about the past 20 years plusses. Premier League , trip to old Wembley, Trip to The Millenium Stadium,3 trips to the new Wembley... knocked out Man utd, Liverpool and Chelsea from the FA cup, Plus the promotions too.... The relegations were a ****** though. But overall we have had a lot more days in the sun than a lot of the 92 league clubs. Its a bit grim right now but I am sure we will turn a corner hopefully in time to remain a Championship club next term. But if the drop happens then so be it, I am sure there are more glory days to come.
Uneventful but not sad empty and depressing. We always had at least one player worth the admission money alone. Futcher, Baker, Fleming, Taggart, Currie, Cooper, etc now I’d cross the road to avoid most of our team. To quote the Stranglers ( those periods excluded) no more heroes anymore.
I sort of knew you'd bring up those players and I agree. I'd also agree its been hard watching the last twelve months but prior to that we had Hammill in full flow, Hourihane, Roberts etc. Some great memories.
Did we do worse last time we got relegated. I went to every chuffing game and genuinely can’t remember much of it at all.
That 12 month period from promotion to last January was brilliant as good as I can ever remember. You are right about those players but in the past we had Futcher et al for years we weren’t just part of the slippery slope to better things. It’s that disconnect between players and fans that’s killing the game for me. Right now keeping a player of say the ability of Owen Archdeacon for more than a couple of years seems beyond us.
Won 9 all season. Just found this https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.sportsmole.co.uk/football/championship/2013-14/table.html
