I know it is long gone now..

But yesterday I was speaking to a Sheffield Wednesday fan I know.

    He said..

It was definitely a penalty for them no doubt about it..

The referee was brilliant all game..

They outclassed us in the first half, but we did better in the second half..

that big guy up front for them is better than all our strikers..

Adam Hammill dived for the penalty and he’s a known diver that’s why the referee didn’t give it.. when I questioned him and said to him. Why didn’t Hammill get booked for diving then? He couldn’t answer that one haha

I used to work with two Wednesday fans who I've kept in touch with.
Both of them agreed that Hamill's was a definite penalty but also thought their's was definite.
They thought a draw was a fair result but when I explained that their only shot on target was the dodgy penalty and that their goalkeeper pulled two blinding saves off plus not getting our penalty, they maybe thought themselves a bit lucky to get a point.

    Yeah it was.

Don’t get this love story most fans seem to have with Hammil though. Accept he’s put in some good performances over the years and scored some important goals but he’s exactly the kind of player you don’t want in a relegation battle. His decisions in the final 3rd this season have cost us points. Been poor delivery and dead ball wise too. Better days behind him sounds harsh but true.

I love Hamill for the service he's given.

He was absolutely fantastic when we first had him, and in league one the opposition sometimes found him unplayable.

Not nearly as effective now though, but maybe the likes of him, Little Tommy tap in and a few more could do it in league one again.

. . . If we go down and if they're still here of course.

The other weekend I dropped my other half down at Hillsborough, and went to Sainsburys. I'm no slouch in the shops. In and out usually. He texted me whilst I was at the checkout, to say he was on his way home. They were 3-0 down to Birmingham. I waited in the car park for him. It was a brilliant sight. Thousands of the "best fans in the world" leaving Hillsborough in their droves at half time.

It remains to be seen if Wednesday will get sucked into the relegation mire, but any team that sets up with a 5-5-0 formation away from home - despite having two strikers available and on the bench - deserves to go down.

Did any of them comment about "not being able to beat their kids/second string/injury ravaged side" but then fail to realise that one of their players in the starting line up cost more than our entire starting 11?

Just some of the things l've heard.

In many ways he played the biggest part getting us up from league one.

He saved Johnson’s job and got us going. He lit the fire that carried on burning.

He scored two amazing goals at Wembley, one World Class one that will live with me until the day I die.

He then rejected more money to stay with our club

    That’s the love story...

He’s struggling this year sadly. But he will always remain an Oakwell Hero to me.

Your opinion is irrelevant. The demeaning way you’re repeatedly talking about a player that undoubtedly gives his all for Barnsley F.C. regardless of luck or talent is awful.

My opinion is as relevant as anyone's on here, especially a foul mouthed individual like yourself.

I don't care if he's a current or ex player. He only scores goals from close range. What else do you want me to call him?

Alan Clark didn't seem to mind being called "sniffer" for his nose for a goal in the box and yesterday someone called our midfield pairing "the crab twins".

It's just words, it's not sexist or racist, and I'm sure Bradshaw is getting paid enough brass not to bother what someone is saying on a fans forum.

If a supporter can't poke a bit of fun by giving a player a nickname then somethings not right.

I work wth a Wednesday fan who otherwise is a very sensible bloke but his view was exactly the same as your mate’s. They view Hammill as a “well known diver”.

It were a penalty to the piggies and I wouldn`t disagree with him that the refs have him darn as a diver. He gets little from the refs.
