What is the worse football injury you have ever had?

I was playing on Thursday and some idiot stood on my foot/ankle ... but I carried on anyways!

After the match I took my sock off to see the extent of my injury and I was shocked.. apparently it’s broken but I hate hospitals..

    That looks sore mate.

Luckily I only ever had broken ribs when I was 16 or 17 - keeper came out like Harold Schumacher knee straight into my right chest wall. 3 broke, heard them snap. Seemed to take for ever to draw my breath.

My lads been more unlucky. Absolutely smashed his elbow to pieces when he was 7, broken foot aged 9, broken hip a couple of years ago aged 15. Latter was weird. Went to volley a cross and went down as if he'd been shot. Pulled a piece of bone the size of two 50p pieces off his hip where the muscle attached, 10 months to recover. Ironically wants to be a doctor now......

That is definitely unlucky! Does he still play though?

And it is sore, doesn’t stop me playing though. I played yesterday and scored five, good job I’m left footed lol.

All i need now is 100k a week and show them how it’s done.. one small tap and they go down these days. Crazy isn’t it?

Yep, you're right there mate. Pain thresholds aren't what they used to be!

Lad does still play, never been fitter in truth, worked really hard once the hip had healed. Played for Barugh JFC/Shaw Lane for 10 years, just finished with Redfearns this year - works Sunday mornings now, but looking at signing on somewhere next season. Though did miss 6 weeks last season having his appendix out!! He's the Darren Anderton of junior football.

Complete rupture of my rec fem, the big muscle that runs down the front of your thigh. Felt like I'd been shot. Completely shorn off of the knee tendon, but by the time I saw the specialist it was too late to try and reattach. It basically just floats in my leg. It still contracts but just turns in to a big ball of muscle.

The upside is that when I tense it it looks like I've got a massive **** that comes halfway down my left trouser leg.

That was what my lad did but the muscle/bone came off at the other end near his hip. His is repaired thankfully but he "hung right" for a few weeks until it was reattached.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Lol

Best of luck to him mate. I'm actually back playing without it being attached but only 7 a side. Losing your power muscle for kicking and jumping when you're a centre half doesn' do much for your football career

Lad i knew at school split his patella in half when he slid under a fence in a game down royston. Myself, nothing worse than a bit of a dead leg.

Broken fibula and dislocated ankle back in 2009 whilst playing for Royston Railway against a team up Hoyland. All I did was change direction whilst running and my foot got caught in the grass. Operation....pins in and back playing the following season. Only play 6 a side now with mates due to starting a family 4 years ago. I'm only 34 and feel like I've still got a few seasons in me.....i think

1983. Flying leap for the ball, landed straight armed, badly dislocated elbow sticking out about an inch from the socket. My mate ran up took one look and threw up. Ambulance on the pitch, the full monty. Absolute agony until it was reduced back into its socket without any anesthesia.

Kicked square on the shin, 1977 playing U11 footie. Ruined a promising career. And at 52, it still hurts now, and bothers me on a daily basis.
    @Metatarsal - now I remember what I wanted to ask you :)

Bad knee injury at uni when I was 18 - never been same since. Two of my mates did the same within weeks of each other - one from Bradford , one from Donny - became known as dodgy Yorkshire knee syndrome
