Good. Make them get up at about 6am if they want to go to the game. Dun't bother me whether it kicks off at 3pm, 9pm or 12pm. I'm pleased if their fans are being inconvenienced, though.
"The club has queried the reasoning and justification for this but until confirmation is announced supporters are urged against booking any transport." Banter
Hope these decisions by CI of SYP will be a consideration in his contract renewal and future applicants for the post
They are excelling themselves only 2 weeks to go and they announce they want to change the kick off time - its not as if anyone will have made travel plans already - both away fans and more importantly home fans travelling from any distance
Information received suggest large numbers intent on causing trouble are expected to travel from south London. True or not that’s the reason SYP will give.
BFC aren't happy with Millwall....again! https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2018/february/millwallchange/
Millwall have done right, anyone booking trains this week are throwing £50/60 away. If it is changed.
Really getting sick of all these early kick offs. How does it work exactly a request from the police? Can the club say no? Or do the police just ramp up the costs to force the move.
It is not confirmed as being moved yet so no, they have not done right as all that will happen now is that their clowns will turn up much earlier...
They’ve given their customers a heads up, they’ve looked after the people who pay the bills, wish our club should do the same.
But surely its better to warn fans who havent already arranged travel to hold off booking when there is a good chance the time will change? The problem surely lies with the incompetents at SYP - if they want to change a kick off time giving a lot more notice would be much better on the fans - its not as if the Millwall game hasnt been arranged since last July or anything That said I cant see any reason to change the time - any millwall thugs who already arranged independent travel will now have an afternoon to kill drinking in Barnsley before their evening train departs. Any coming on club coaches are unlikely to cause more trouble at 12 than they are at 3
The whole thing is just stupid. I can't believe that a kick off time can be changed with so little notice. Matches postponed because of the weather or FA Cup fixtures are one thing. Changing it because their "might" be a bit of trouble is plain daft. If there is a genuine threat then their tickets need to be cancelled. Close the north stand for the day and police the cash turnstiles rigorously to prevent anyone with a Sarf Bermsey accent from entering the ground. If any slip through stamp on them hard. Too easy?
People don't read things properly. There's a post from the club on Facebook about tickets being available at Hull tonight with no price increase. Some have still felt the need to ask for the same info in the comments. I'm sure there will be fans who have already changed travel plans, on the strength of what Millwall have said.
Agreed. We all hate Millwall, but they haven't done wrong here. SYP have known since last June when this game was due to be played. To want to change the date less than three weeks beforehand isn't practical to those who want to buy advance travel tickets, book time off work or whatever else. If it was the other way around I would have expected our club to do the same, so those who hadn't already booked didn't do so until they knew if a time change would happen. If both clubs have the same information, it is up to both sides when they want to inform their own fans.
