All of a sudden Gardner and Williams are everyone's super pairing and knackers to hammill and isgrove. Whats Mahoney bringing to party ? And McCarthy might just flourish attacking wise at fullback now we have summat to aim at. Just a thought.
Don't disagree with your starting XI but I really think we need to add more threat from the bench. At the moment, when Thiam and McBurnie get knackered and taken off we seem to lose 99% of our attacking threat. I'd have Hammill on their all day long, Isgrove if fit and a striker who can make himself a handful too, maybe Victor. Pearson can cover all defensive positions and Mallan can do anything Moncur and Mahoney can do and plenty they can't, for mine. Plus Knasmuellner.
Can't disagree with that, however, in Jose's new formation Gardner and Williams have looked better than under the old regime. There could be a case for giving McBurnie a rest and play him just the 2nd half? because going all out for the win early doors, then shutting shop is still a work-in-progress and not one we should be comfortable with just yet. Cavare shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the bench, let alone the pitch. Liability, an accident waiting to happen.
If not in the starting 11 then Hammill and/or Isgrove should at least be on the bench to run at tired defenders late in games in my opinion.
Played well last night and in his other games except one rash moment that I'm sure he will learn from....
He was knocked out so if we follow what’s meant to be the correct procedure following a concussion then it’s a week without playing in a match
Hard for me to judge because I’ve not seen us in the two away games but we’ve took 4 points from 2 away games & apparently been decent in 3 of the 4 halves so I’d be tempted to go with a very similar line up. Probably only change Yiadom for Cavare & to replace Jackson I’d go with Pinnock, Mills, Pearson in that order depending on fitness. I’d also have Hedges on the bench, he’s a good impact player off the bench & playing wide in a front 3 means he doesn’t have to do as much defending which he’s pretty poor at.
His rash moment last night could have cost us. Seems to lack self control, and we need players who can not only stay on the pitch for 90 mins, but not do anything daft in the process.
Agree 100%. Hedges has blistering pace and an eye for goal. I would like to see him get 20 minutes at a tired defence.
Gardner and Williams work together much better in our new formation. We could have done with a Hammill/Isgrove on the bench last night, to be less defensive, so I suspect one but not both will be on the bench for Norwich. Mahoney seems severely off the pace and whatever reasons Heckingbottom had for not giving McCarthy even a place on the bench, Morais appears to agree.
