Really odd with Isgrove as he definitely offers something different even if it’s just from the bench. I know JM seems to prefer 4-3-3 but we’ve gone 5-4-1 in both of the previous two games in the second half with Potts, Mahoney, Moncur and Knasmüllner operating wide on occasion. Surely Isgrove would be an alternative option out wide, possibly even a better option from the bench than some of those listed above?

I can see us losing Izzy, Hammill and Hedges in the summer. Not a fan of wingers is he? I'm no coach but I'd give at least one of them a run out up front with Moore and McB.

Pace as an attacking threat helps any team, us especially as we are so static in the middle of midfield.

If he’s fit it seems strange he’s not even being considered as an option from the bench

Maybe he doesn’t want to play in the way Jose wants him to

We've got Ian Ormandroyd's love child up front and he doesn't want to play with wingers?

Don't need wingers to cross the ball - we've scored 3 goals from crosses in the last 2 games without them, probably more than we've scored in the previous 15 while deploying "wingers".

Got an idea that something not right with Izzy after I saw Isgrove like a tweet that had said something along the lines of Morais not being a fan of him for whatever reason.

Seems like Moore and McB will have to get used to hoof ball with Thiam as muscle.
Perhaps the thinking right now is that wingers are a luxury and so long as the ball gets to our strikers somehow then it doesn't matter how that happens.
We are in a fight for survival and maybe a tiddly little winger doesn't quite fit the bill. Top of the league.... great. Bottom..... not worth the risk.
    Just my opinion like.

We still need wingers as we won't set up 433 every game.

He's also a fan of 4231 which we would need wingers for

Am I the only one who thinks Mahoney is a winger because he has had some game time under our new coach , personally I would like see Hammel being used instead of Mahoney , just my opinion

I think we need to get away from thinking of someone as a "winger" in any formation - in order to be effective we need players who can play narrow and wide - as I've said before, we need 11 players able to effect the game all the time, we don't have the luxury of someone picking their a**e out wide waiting for the ball to come to them. The best team we ever had in the modern era contained no wingers, even Bassett's 4-4-2 was with Hignett on the left from which he scored 20 odd-goals could hardly be described as a winger.

It’s pretty obvious he wants big, strong, physical players in his team. Isgrove & Hammill for that matter don’t fit the bill.

It’s not nice seeing 2 fan favourites cast aside but it’s football, different managers have different preferences.

Ultimately he’ll be judged on whether it works or not

I found it weird how little Isgrove tried against Burton. I presumed he was maybe injured but was gutted for him because I thought it would hurt his chances of being picked. I’m disappointed that I’ve waited excitedly all this time for his return and he’s been injured and now out of favour :(
