we could finish as high as 14th or something. much to take from that barring the calamitous defending

You played well in the second half and were by far the better side after you’d scored. That’s said, you didn’t create that many chances despite your possession? Never put too much emphasis on possession stats myself & this was certainly a case in point.

But if you’d sneaked another goal there was only going to be one winner.

I suppose one redeeming feature over last night is that yes, we lost the same as our closest
relegation rivals, but unlike Sunderland, Burton, Birmingham, Hull, Reading and Wednesday,
Bolton and us, were playing away.
Saturday should be another interesting round of games. Sunderland are away at QPR, Birmingham
are away at Cardiff and Burton have a difficult home game against Bristol City.
We travel to Middlesbrough where you could argue we could well draw another blank, Hull City play
Norwich at home, Reading have a tricky home game against Leeds, whilst Wednesday and Bolton
meet at Hillsborough. Goal difference could make a big difference come the end of the season, so it's
a bonus, that whilst at present, we lose or draw, we're not shipping too many goals.
Worst GD is Burton on minus 36, then comes Birmingham on minus 31, Sunderland minus 27, Bolton
minus 24, then us on minus 15, Wednesday on minus 12, Reading minus 9 and finally Hull on minus 7.
As previously noted, Burton, Reading and ourselves have also got a game in hand, which could also
prove to be vital. I for one still remain upbeat over our prospects to survive, but we have to start to defend
a lot better than we have been doing and it's time for the likes of Moore and Thiam to weigh in with some goals to
ensure that we can get sufficient points to survive. It's going to be close, but I still think we can do it.

The problem is we can’t stop being crap at the back in an instant because we have decent not great defenders who appear to make bad decisions at key times

It doesn’t help constantly changing the personnel involved, some forced through injury I get but logic states a settled back 4 with your best players in it stands the best chance of doing well
