Davies is a decent 'keeper who lost form/confidence. Townsend isn't a decent 'keeper. Let's hope the new regime can get the best out of Adam. He gets back in for me on Tuesday but he shouldn't be captain, that should be Yids.
For the 99% of Barnsley fans who idolised Hecky (til he left) they were happy for him to select Davies week in week out for two years. I'm sure PH didn't think every Saturday...Townsend's the better keeper but I'll pick Davies again just for the laugh. We all know Davies is the better keeper just the same as we know Yiadom is the best full back. They both need to be in the side from now til the end of the season.
I’m not sure 99% idolised him for that long. Plenty were questioning him for a long time, some wanted him out for a good length of time. I didn’t - but did question him at times. I certainly didn’t idolise him. It was him that ended up dropping Davies though. I do think he’d have swapped it back by now in all fairness. I’m hoping Morais will do that Tuesday.
Just for balance, I thought Townsend made a great one handed save from a shot coming in from a player who left Pinillos for dead.
I'll say again what I said onJanuary 31st - it was criminally negligent not to get a keeper in during the window and it will cost us. It was absolutely clear that Davies was having a confidence crisis and anyone who's ever seen Townsend knows he's not up to the job.
