It seems we want to slaughter our players distribution of the ball especially Williams ,Gardiner and some others . These are the guys who are always showing for the ball and taking possession, if only there was some better movement around them ,and more players showing for the ball , we would not be forced in to difficult and long passes . A player like Mallan might help as he makes himself available between defensive midfield and front line to take possession

Give over. The reason they 'show' for the ball is that they play so ******* deep that nobody is around them when they receive the ball. The reason nobody is showing for it for them is because they're stood next to each other leaving the few remaining attacking players outnumbered.

Here's an idea. When Williams has the ball why doesn't Gardner go forward and 'show' for the ball somewhere UP the field? When Gardner has it why doesn't Williams go UP the field and move?

If we are praising those two for 'showing' for the ball in negative pointless places then I vote Townsend man of the match every week because he constantly shows for the ball. He makes himself available for a pass all the time. Sure it's in his own 6 yard box and is extremely negative but it's not a million miles different to what the twins do.

You obviously don’t know how the system works at that level

I’m more concerned about giving the ball away with short passes than long ones

THIS. Never mind failing to find someone 40 yards away. We’re struggling over 5 yards!

I’d say the exact opposite about Gardner, I don’t think he does keep showing for it, I think the defenders often have to go long because he isn’t showing for it
