....why is it a 1pm kick off on Saturday? They only chuffing bring 200 fans. Just had to cancel a hair appointment. (And my nails getting done).
They’ve already sold 700 according to reports and will probably sell way in excess of that by Friday afternoon. Isn’t it also pay on the day? I read that Millwall have designated this fixture as their annual “flag” fixture. It could be a very vibrant atmosphere, in and outside the ground.
I think that we have an overly zealous Safety Advisory Committee which includes a particularly keen member from Barnsley MBC that issues the safety certificate. I imagine that this has played a role in the early kick off and the limited North Stand attendance that we’ve seen of late.
Going back to the ticket allocation - Rangers V Celtic at the weekend, Celtic fans up to the front row and right next to Rangers fans in the stand with a line of stewards only between them - if the biggest hatred in British football can manage it why can't we?
I thought it was to allow the Cockneys 4 to 5 hours drinking in town before catching their train back Darn Sarff.
The teams so young that they have double booked a trip to ‘Big Apple’ Play Centre and maybe a trip to Smyths if they are good at 3pm.
It’s paddys day and old bill are needed in tarn at tea time to deal with them on their annual day sesh
Yeah it will probably be the biggest following they have ever brought to us. They caused bedlam three years ago at Rotherham, when they ruined their flag day by fighting with stewards and home fans inside the ground. With their behaviour at Wembley, I suppose it's cautious, especially as a win for us would probably end their slim outside chance of the play offs.
I don’t have a name. This point has been raised on here on numerous occasions. I think @SuperTyke raised it on a thread questioning the capacity of the North Stand a few weeks ago.
That's a bit unfair...the last 6 meetings between the two & the away followings from each. Time of fixture in brackets - as this does affect attendance. 2015/16: 385 Millwall fans at Oakwell (on 2nd January) / 304 Barnsley fans at The Den (Tuesday night) 2013/14: 471 Millwall fans at Oakwell (Saturday in February) / 340 Barnsley fans at The Den (Saturday in November) 2012/13: 161 Millwall fans at Oakwell (Tuesday night in January) / 199 Barnsley fans at The Den (Saturday before Christmas) 2011/12: 301 Millwall fans at Oakwell (Saturday in January) / 302 Barnsley fans at The Den (Saturday in August) 2010/11: 849 Millwall fans at Oakwell (last game of season with nothing to play for) / 276 Barnsley fans at The Den (Friday night in January) 2001/02: 745 Millwall fans at Oakwell (Saturday in March) / 222 Barnsley fans at The Den (Tuesday night in September) I make that: Millwall's average away following at Oakwell: 485 fans. Barnsley's average away following at The Den: 274 fans. I do not think that is a bad effort from us (Millwall); considering all our away games have been members only and all-ticket since the Birmingham City Play-Off riot in 2002. Plus, we have a handful of supporters living north of Milton Keynes.
All our away games have been members only and all-ticket since the Birmingham City Play-Off Riot in 2002. So, doubt this will be relaxed all of a sudden for an early kick-off in South Yorkshire. This is not a flag day fixture. I believe it has actually been moved because of the risk of Barnsley hooligans looking for 'revenge'; rather than Millwall bringing any significant number of hooligans.
My point is not that Millwall are not Well supported, the point was that as there's no animosity between the supporters and the travelling support will be in the hundreds rather than the mid thousands why treat it as a high risk early kick off fixture. Millwall are being shat on.
Fair enough. But I think there is a lot of animosity towards Millwall fans from Barnsley fans after Wembley & I believe that is why this has been made a 1pm KO. As an aside, I simply did not like the rounding down you did - the teacher in me I guess. Wednesday fans are good at that too; but I was able to show them that Millwall regularly take a higher % of their home support to Hillsborough than they ever muster at The Den - despite our games being members only & all-ticket & no such thing as the Yorkshire Millwall Supporters Club.
Well, considering how very important it is to their perception of themselves as this massive, passionately supported club, then actually, it did - many tantrums over it. I left the beating them up to my fellow Millwall fans.
Exactly. Actually, I even think I mentioned you lot. Statistically speaking, Barnsley has the most passionate football fans in Yorkshire. The people of Barnsley turn out in a higher ratio of their local population to support their local club than any other Yorkshire folk. Leeds, frankly, are pathetic. If the same percentage of Leeds residents came out and supported Leed United in the way those 'soft southerners' in Ipswich support their local club, then Leeds would be averaging over 70,000 even in average Championship seasons.
PMSL. I was on your side until you likened me to a Wednesday fan. By the way it's hardly rounding down if you only go back 4 years.
