Personally, I feel that tonight's result will depend on the quality of opposition we face. Norwich have long term absentees in Thompson, Jarvis and Trybull. Three others re- Tettey, Zimmerman and Reid are also considered very doubtful, but it's been confirmed to-day, that Moritz Leitner ( Hamstring) and our usual nemesis Nelson Oliveira ( Calf strain) are both ruled out, which means that Norwich are down to the bare bones in terms of their selections.
The first time I saw us play Norwich at Oakwell was during the 1981/82 season. After our cup defeat by Liverpool, the team (despite being the best Barnsley team I've ever seen, in my opinion) hit a bad patch of form. We were particularly unimpressive that night against an equally poor performing City. Unfortunately, they managed to sneak a 1-0 win. Had we been the team to fluke the 1-0 victory, then it could've been us and not them to win promotion at the end of the season. We finished four points behind Norwich, who snatched the third promotion spot, behind champions Luton & runners-up Watford. Oh, and sadly, it was also the night that a large portion of the Ponty End were chanting "Ray McHale is a w****r".
What worries me a little bit is that Sunderland scored 3 against Bristles and Boro. Hull scored 4 last time out. I wouldn't write anyone off that is capable of doing that in a game. Our one goal a game habit is very concerning. Leaves no room for error, and as soon as we go behind you know that the chance of 3 points has gone. I'm hoping that Moore will add to his goal at boro and join mcburnie in going on a bit of a run.
Trouble is McBurnie got player of the Month and a Scotland call up - bound to have a few dry games now
Winning last season was such a rare event but I am convinced that I shall be there to see us win again. I've been conspicuous by my absence for a number of weeks but I am now able to see every home match to the end of the season. This will coincide with a season-saving run of home wins. Mark my words
