Gally wasn’t present. There was quite a bit about ideas to get people to the ground on game day so obviously pubs present offered ideas but also need to look after their own. Was some talk of ticket pricing for kids but it seems to me that we have it pretty much spot on.
The fan engagement at Brighton last season was 1st class, If the club want to have a better match day experience then they should look at the day out at the Amex. The only problem is that the Amex is in the middle of nowhere Oakwell is not.
I've yet to see anything better than how they do it at the Eithad. Always makes me want to go to a couple of Citeh games a season just to take it all in.
Not been to a match at city but went to watch AC/DC at the etihad amazing stadium can imagine the place is buzzing on match days
This. I get that some people want other things going on for the match day but all I want is 3 points and/or a good, exciting performance. The second half of our promotion season, coupled with the JP cup run, made it enjoyable to be at Oakwell and made me look forward to going to games. I like us competing with the bigger teams and being underdogs but this season has been a long slog for me where we’ve struggled to score let alone win. I’ve gone a bit off tangent there but in my opinion the best thing to engage fans as a football club is to win some games.
It is, but it is surely a chicken & egg situation. There have been some minor improvements this season, but the quality of bar & food service & the ambience in the East Stand pre match is sadly lacking. If it was improved I know me & my mates would ditch going for a couple of pints & some food in Brammah's & would spend that money at the club. That would lead to greater revenues & should then lead to us having a better team in the long run, that plays better football. I think the new owners recognise this, but obviously as some services are subcontracted not too much can be done immediately.
Yeah that makes perfect sense. I, for one, am more of a ‘turn up at 10 to 3 and leave at 10 to 5’ kind of supporter but I do see the flip side to this with supporters. As you say, I think the owners have recognised this and will be improving it in the long and short run.
I know, that is something you can't compete with, but not everything is governed by price. A lot of my mates have families & time is a big factor. Going straight to the ground saves time. Plus, to people like me who are travelling a distance to get to the match saving a bit of money on a pint is a marginal thing, compared to the overall cost. It's more about the quality. For example at the start of the season they were selling cans of Brewdog, a beer I would buy at the ground. I'm not a Worthingtons fan, so i generally don't bother having a beer at half time. Whatever you do in business you aren't gonna win everybody over, but you can make an effort.
weird carry on this. always feels like 'the fan experience' crops up whenever we're doing $hite. it's almost like it's used to try and boost morale and draw attention away from results. i've always thought it should be the other way. it's icing on the cake for me. right now i arrive as late as possible as quite frankly, the on-field entertainment on offer is $hit. there isn't a thing that would attract me earlier. as for half-time, tbh that's when i go for a pi$$ and try to get warmer. again, no amount of ex-players, crossbar challenges, brithday announcements or cheerleaders make a difference to me. sort the results out and the rest will follow.
