100% agree. We have improved defensively this season in general giving away fewer chances to the opposition, yet goals against column is still poor. Our goalkeepers have not been good enough and Davies has regressed when you would expect him to improve with experience.

Regardless of our League status next season he has to go in my opinion.

I don’t agree that the Norwich goal was a glaring error, his positioning wasn’t particularly out, and he is on his haunches with knees bent ready to spring to make a save.

The shot is hit like a bullet, it was through him before any reaction could be made by anyone, it didn’t go between him and the post. It might have hit him and stayed out - it is down to luck whether you save that or not I’d say. If, as some suggested, he’d stood up tall closer to or holding his near post, and the forward scuffed a half hit shot which went in the opposite corner as Davies couldn’t get to it as he was too committed to his front post and not in position to spring off to dive, he’d have got dogs abuse.

I have to be fair. I’ve been critical of Davies. He’s been very poor this season. Not convinced he’s good enough in this division at all, but I didn’t see that goal as a mistake by him. He’s got a lot to prove if he’s to continue as our goalkeeper.

But I am convinced Townsend definitely isn’t good enough. That is for sure - and whilst Davies long term might not be good enough he’s clearly the best we have for now. Not bringing in a keeper in January was criminal. Nothing Morais can do about it.

Whether or not you blame Davies for the Norwich goal, does anybody think Townsend is a better bet? I don’t think he’d get a regular game in league two.

Not sure why there's such a debate over this. It's a good ball over the top into a dangerous position. You could perhaps argue Yids is slightly too narrow to begin with, or that Isgrove was sat too deep, but it's not an easy situation to defend against. Izzy gets beat with the quick pass inside before their lad gets in completely unmarked and smashes it high.

No fault can be attributed to Davies or Jackson. Yes it's Davies's near post but his positioning is OK, it's just a good finish. If he saves that it's a top class save, but he's not a top class goalkeeper.

If you're going to blame anybody it has to be Yids. It's a shame because he's probably our best player and he had another good game, but he's completely ball watching there. He's switched off momentarily and it's cost us. Jackson is merely trying to rescue Yids's mistake.

do not blame or target individuals,,,,,,,, its a TEAM effort only all is to blame, if want to be sarcastic then the attackers and midfielders should not have let the ball get towards the defense for the keeper to get this abuse single handed,,, get behind your TEAM no matter what,, we not got the squad we wanted nor the players we wanted to keep,,, DEAL with it and be more supportive,,,

What a predictable response , the fact that the lad is totally unmarked & hits a thunderbolt passed Davies obviously has nothing to do with the defenders at all , its all his fault . If you expect him to make big saves , is it not conceivable to expect the defenders to make big tackles , the midfield to make big passes & the forwards to score big goals ? The plain fact is that we are 4th from the bottom because McBurnie apart , we are a poor side in every department & we are in this position because collectively we are not good enough , we should have been out of site well before their goal & the defending for their goal was shocking but you choose to blame the keeper , its wrong to blame an individual when clearly as a side we are a poor championship outfit , so please do not expect the goalkeeper to be world class, whist the rest are at their best bang average , their all to blame for the current plight

This thread is about Adam Davies and his part played in the goal.

    You’ve gone way off topic.

No, he tried to save the shot. It's what he's paid for and it's what he would like to have done - because otherwise he gets slated by people for being rubbish because he can't save every shot.
