Well done to Mallan - wonder if he might actually get to play a match for a change

Amazing how many of our fringe players get international call ups. Makes you wonder...

It is strange considering Marley Watkins was a first team starter scored double figures yet didn’t get called up for Wales till he signed for Norwich. Same can be said about Conor too, how he didn’t at least get 1 cap for Ireland while at us is beyond me!

While we might get a few call ups without the players actually getting a game you could blame it on the "little old Barnsley" syndrome. Going back a few decades Mick McCarthy was an outstanding centre half at second division level but never got near the Irish team until he signed for Man City. Then he got noticed and went on to captain the Republic and had a glittering international career.

    Funny old thing....

Looks like Williams has back injury which may mean he misses Saturday

I don't wish the lad any harm but a few games out might be good for us. It will force the manager's hand to play someone else alongside Gardner - Moncur or Mallan perhaps?

Williams has done well for us but it's time he had a rest I think. It's no coincidence that Gardner played better when Williams was out before.
