Before the Norwich game there'd been a week of freezing temperatures coupled with snow. There's gonna be about 6 hours of cold and possibly snow prior to the game tomorrow so I think it'll be alright.
Its forcasting showers not a massive dump predicting 1 to 2 inches in total and temperatures just below freezing easily handled by a bit of salt - it should be fine but give SYP any excuse to call it off and I am sure they will take it
Weather warning just been upgraded to orange from 4pm tomorrow. Significant snow fall and disruption expected
But people have to get home then. I don't fancy having to drive up Sheffield Road after the match in a few inches of snow. They might think about the Millwall coaches having to get up to Birdwell or some of their fans getting stranded in town. Heavy snow is forecast for Barnsley overnight tonight anyway so it could get called off by daylight tomorrow to stop Millwall fans travelling.
I will be severely annoyed if its called off because it might be a bit snowy later I am coming up to see my parents anyway and if its postponed that will be another game I wont be able to see when its moved to a Tuesday night The Norwich game was called off but I drove from Surrey to Wombwell Saturday morning with no problems whatsoever and when I got there there really wasnt much snow. All the shops buses etc were running normally. Much less snow than at Carlisle for example where a match was played. Clearly if the forecast is wrong and we get a couple of feet of snow thats different, Currently we have a yellow warning in place - thats a be prepared for some disruption and possible travel delays especially in isolated areas The warning is upgraded to Orange from 4pm - well after the game has finished and it doesnt mean at 4pm we will suddenly get a blizzard - it actually says "Between 16:00 Sat 17th and 09:00 Sun 18th Snow showers are expected to become more frequent through Saturday evening and night with icy patches also developing on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. Strong easterly winds will lead to some temporary blizzard conditions and drifting of snow. Travel delays on roads are likely, stranding some vehicles and passengers. Some delays and cancellations to rail and air travel are likely. There is a chance that some rural communities will be cut off. Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are expected." Plenty of time to get home before the worse weather hits later on
Pitch covered, surrounding areas salted, sorted. It's one night of snow ffs. We had a full week plus freezing temperatures last time and even then it was debatable that it should've been called off. I'll be very disappointed if the club don't manage to get it on after I've travelled up, again.
Quick to the supermarket. Stock up on bread and milk. The countries going to grind to a halt because of a bit of snow. I'm surprised we even made it across the English Channel in 1939.
I used to take the piss out of folk doing that until the snow a few weeks ago. I went to the supermarket to get a chicken and a bit of veg for the Sunday dinner later that day and they didn't have a single chicken on the shelves, most of the veg was gone as well. Asked someone who worked there and they said the lorries have been unable to get in to re-stock. I'll now be joining those mad c*nts next time we have a big freeze. Method in their madness.
I guess Morrisons at 1pm tomorrow then if the match is off - you will have plenty of free time to do your shopping
It must be on. Imagine the match being cancelled due to the advice of SYP with 700 Millwall 'fans' in town demolishing those parts of the town, that weren't in Steve Houghton's plans.
