No not at all, things get in the way from time to time but for me to say you rarely go to matches butvhave such a strong opinion on them is wrong

 

I sat in there when we beat Port Vale 3-1 one Christmas. Tinkler scored I think.

 

Can we just take it as a given that we want the team to play better and win and then get on with discussing the opening post? Three pages with only a handful of posts about what was actually written.

The Leeds convoy thing sounds good, to the point where I'd actually consider getting the train to Barnsley to travel back to Leeds with everyone despite this one being my 'home' game. It's the sort of thing that builds up excitement and makes people want to not miss out.

I'm not sure how I feel about a singing section, I personally wouldn't go in it, not because I don't like singing - I do - but I imagine that behaviour in that stand would be much worse with the general opinion being 'don't go in that stand if you don't like it' so it doesn't affect me either way.

I think the free kids season ticket thing is a very good point. I see lots of empty seats around me, a few of which I know for a fact are taken by free kids tickets as people have told me so. Apart from the fact that I can't bring myself to be that selfish, I have considered borrowing a friend's child's birth certificate to get myself one so that I would have a guaranteed seat for my dad (who would purchase a ticket in a random area) if/when he wanted to attend and an empty seat next to me the rest of the time for general comfort. Even though I could still do that if it was say £25 for the year, I probably wouldn't.

TVs, I would like it if they live streamed the match as then it wouldn't be so bad for people stuck in queues when the match has kicked back off/ones who go down early to get a head start on the queue.

I remember as a child going into the North stand beside the scenes area during an Open Day and even though I was quite young, that has really stuck with me. They should definitely do that again as it's more interesting to see something normally unavailable rather than just a stalls and rides on the carpark.

No opinion on beers except that I'd probably be persuaded to buy some at times if they sold Carlsberg but I know a lot of people aren't enamoured by that.

 

Nah, it's a football message board. It lives on opinion. I go to most home and away games, but others that don't are still welcome to comment.

It's just a matter of who's comments you choose to respect.

I’ve stopped going cos we’re ***** presently, pure and simple. More important things to spend my money on. I get depressed enough at work without having to fork out uggins of cash at the weekend to watch a struggling team.
It hurts that we’re ***** but the only people who can really effect it are the new owners.
Once that happens and the improvements are seen on the pitch I’ll probably spend my hard earned at oakwell again on a weekend like a few thousand just like me.
Football is meant to be entertaining afterall.

 

So we think increasing costs for kids and pricing out future generations is a grand idea. Why not we have already priced out the casual fan. Consistent approach I like it.

 

25 quid is a bargain to keep a seat free beside you so you aren't as squashed on the small plastic seats. I bet loads of fans who don't have a child, still get what they are entitled to.

 

Interesting use of the word “entitled”. Is this in the adjectival sense “believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment” or the modern phrasal verb usage as in “He wasn’t fouled but there was contact and he’s entitled to go down”?

 

I have had kids tickets until this year when I didn’t bother with a season ticket. mine come when the weather is nice and we have a great time. One is keener than the other. She will come 10-15 times a season and will I imagine carry on coming when she is older. The other will come 5-10 times and probably won’t. I wouldn’t have got either a ticket if I had to pay ( unless they asked for one). You cut off the future for short term gain and to appease a few whingers and you will pay the price.

 

I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer so could you clarify whether you think the new owners did spend and recruit in January or didn’t?
You seem to be having a gnaw on the owners but then saying they had a prolific recruitment drive.

I consider it a slur that someone's opinion isn't considered worthy because they haven't been to X number of games. I'm still as passionate as anyone about The Reds. Circumstances have just dictated that I can't go to as many games as I did for the first 40 years of my life.

 

If you barely go how can you have an opinion on our best starting XI, who’s best in what position, who’s played well, who’s at fault for goals conceded. You can’t, you have to be there to watch them to form an opinion on those things.
