According to Millwall. http://www.millwall.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=127304&posts=1 They attempt to be even handed but can't help with the usual generalisations and inaccuracies. Is there a more insular set of "fans" in the whole football league?
Oh, here's a link to Millwalls illustrious history. http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/mill.htm
He's laughing at how many goals we conceded when we were relegated. http://www.emfootball.co.uk/table1989-90.html They only managed 26 points!
To be fair, Millwall between 1885 and 1900 were the southern equivalent of Aston Villa (the first dominant club of the Football League). It was in this period Millwall earned the nickname "Lions', as in 'Lions of the South', thanks to pioneering the Southern League (the first professional competitive league competition south of Birmingham & every bit as good as the Football League; as proved by Millwall, Southampton and Spurs' performances in the FA Cup) and were its dominant team. That website is excellent; but it does most English football clubs from the south a massive mis-service by only concentrating on the Football League history. It's a bit like Sky only focusing on football after 1992. For example, it misses out Millwall's runs to the FA Cup Semi-Finals in 1900 and 1903 - the former being the time Millwall knocked out the mighty Aston Villa side of the time, proving how good the Southern League was and opening the way for the expansion of the Football League to southern clubs. Millwall were invited to join the FL at the time, but declined, as it was they who had pioneered the Southern League & so wanted to show it some loyalty (a mistake in hindsight). As ever, statistics can only really tell half the story & imo are massively over-used as a point of reference in this day and age.
You do realise teams from that era were mainly mechanics and any fooker else they could find off the streets that had a pair of shoes.
Actually apart from the guff over the play off violence and a couple of stabs that could be viewed as misguided attempts at humour I didn't think it was bad...at least he'd done some research on it.
Why would anyone be interested in anything but football league history, it's the only thing we've all got in common.
A pretty long winded excuse for being **** if you ask me. I can never remember, is it you lot or West Ham who were SCABS?

Gosh you're miserable buggers. Yeah there were some inaccuracies and attempts at banter but I quite enjoyed it. The writer had obviously put a bit of effort and research into it which shows respect.
"D is for dull. Barnsley’s football league existence has been pretty dull." Well, I've only been watching them since the 70s, and granted I've seen plenty of awful games along the way, but overall it's been anything but dull.
I've been watching us since year before premiership age of ten. Since then I've seen 3 play off finals (1 championship 2 league one). 3 promotions (1 premiership 2 to the championship) and 2 relegations from the championship quite eventful compared to some clubs. And a FA cup semi final
The composer of this lovely piece is a fellow named "Moody" who in my opinion regularly posts mainly for the benefit of millwall's opponents. He is Millwall's very own Joseph Goebbels.
