Football has lost its marbles. Who in their right minds would pay £36 to watch 90 minutes of sport? Not to mention the add-on costs of travel, snap, whatever. Absolutely bonkers. And linking this in to another thread... what's the point in trying to develop extra pre-match experience stuff to make it a good day out for the kids, if their parents are being priced out and can't afford to bring them? The sooner football gets a reality check, the better.
The problem with the reciprocal pricing for us is that all our Neighbouring clubs are not only some of the dearest in the league to watch but are also unwilling to do their own fans a financial favour. Therefor we get knocked back with our reciprocal pricing offer and we all get loved for dearer adult ticket prices. It’s too dear, we all accept that, but should it be good old Barnsley that does the decent thing on its own again?
I think it’s because it falls in that particular price bracket or some other rhubarb that these people churn out. Either way, if their people had said “sweet, that’s a good idea for a bit of a bonus for both sets of our hardworking fans. We’ll both agree on 20 quid” then this thread wouldn’t exist.
That argument was proven to be false practically the moment it announced. We ripped off villa and our own fans and they charged ours a lot less
Simplify it. Twenty quid a ticket, tenner u18 and oap, under twelves a fiver. Every game. Every ground. 18-22’s bridged at £15 if they insist on making that a category. Sensibly priced concourse fayre. Instead of £3 for a sausage roll. Convinced they’d make more if they made it less restrictive.
Also Sheffield it's charged us £32. £32 is our category A price but we have designated the game cat A* which is £38 (£2 advance purchase discount takes it to £36). Not reciprocal, not even the same band
Whilst not in favour of the price hikes at Oakwell it did come abart at the time the owd bill started reducing the amount of tickets we could sell in the away end to the clubs with larger followings. Nar Sheff Utd have rarely filled out an away end at Oakwell, but if they like to think they are as massive as their City neighbours then who are we to disappoint them by not treating them equally.
I agree with all of this and if you are going this far then also divide the sky appearances/brass up equally to level the playing field out. After all in the case of Leeds for example, who wants to watch the same team on sky every 2 weeks trying to stay in the top half of the table? The season ticket deal for me and the kids is spot on but work and kids football is stopping me going to all the games. Next season I may have to get the calculator out to see what’s more financially beneficial.
