So quickly ever before? He’s in an almost impossible job and is getting the hammer for the whole bucket of mistakes made in the last two years. Seems fair
Ideally we should all get behind the bloke regardless of current form. Also the current owners should give the guy has much time and patience as humanly possible despite what might happen on the field in the coming weeks and months. What could go wrong ?
Have to agree RS. Its "THE PLAN" that's failed us, not José. He can only use what he inherited. We are now rapidly beginning to depend on other teams doing us favours it seems. If we go down or not,I hope there is a huge clear out of players. and that José will be given sufficient funding to build a team capable of success in whatever league we find us in next term.
I think that usually there is a little optimism around a new appointment, whether it be their interviews, previous record in management, a change of form or an upturn in performances. That tends to buy a manager time even if things start to go wrong. With Jose Morais, he was an appointment from nowhere really, with little track record on which to judge. So far there has been no improvement, uninspiring tactics, a frustrating lack of consistency in selection, strange treatment of certain players and rather clichéd interviews that don't offer much explanation nor encouragement. Given our dire form and poor football, with no honeymoon period nor previous evidence to suggest he will be a success, I think the tide turning quickly is no surprise. I was concerned at the Hull game, with McBurnie essentially playing wing back in the second half and us withdrawing to the point of all out defence against an average opponent. It was far too early to question JM at that point and it probably still is. But I am concerned we've took a gamble and backed the wrong horse.
Exactly what I posted about earlier, unfortunately the fans have turned on him already ans he will carry the can for significant mistakes by the previous regime!
It was a bizarre appointment and will sadly be something that significantly contributes to our impending relegation.
my whole outlook changed when heckingbottom showed his true colours. i'll be ruling with my head not my heart, from now on. when he came in, as far as i was concerned his job was to keep us up. no more no less. for me if he doesn't do his job, he doesn't keep his job. nothing personal, just the way it is.
It shouldn't, cos we made Brum look daft, down to his tactics. Think a massive off day is clouding folks (including mine) judgement
From my perspective the truly worrying thing today was the lack of any tactics to get back in the game after falling behind. That is unless you consider playing with 4 center forwards and no creative players. I thought taking off Mallanat h-t was apple move - he made a mistake for the goal but he was infinitely more creative than Potts and there seems to be something personal keeping Hammill from at least being on the bench.
I think Mallan has to go off. His head had gone. Was the boot lace tying incident before or after the ball being given away?
Agree. I was fuming with the score but again on another day we equalise and perhaps go on to win Just like chances being missed 1-0 up on Tuesday I was all context for Paul Heckingbottom so have to apply some to him too - we have a squad signed with the primary driver of proving folks right not staying in the division. Before you even mention the sheer arrogance of selling/not trying to renew players because recruits were coming in from L2/non-league (Scotland) to replace them and it had been “easy” before. Someone had the secret and said they might sell it one day.
Think Brum just rudderless and ***** when we played em. We took our early chances (pen aside) and then shut up shop for the 2nd half and Brum ran out of ideas. You can see why Cotterill got his marching orders not long afterwards!
I totally agree with your opening point about our current predicament being overwhelmingly the result of the purchase and sale policy (I don't think there's ever been 'a plan' as such - otherwise there would surely have been a bit in it about what to do when the team turned out to be quite good). However, I don't think its a binary choice between 'policy/plan' and manager and it's also valid to say that we have appointed someone that is under-equipped for the job and even more unlikely to keep us up than Hecky.
A poor workforce generally achieve poor results. It’s a rare event where this trend is not the case. JM was always going to be into a no win case, if we must (as it seems everyone has to) blame him then this is the easy option.
Yeah and since changing their managers to guys who know English football and the championship really good, Hull and Birmingham have both improved.
