This manager has come with a plan on how he wants his team to play.
He hasn’t come with a plan to get the best out of the Barnsley players to get us away from the relegation zone.
He’s applying the same old tactics and the players are struggling to adapt to it.
We have the players now - but we don’t have the manager.

For 18 months or so we have played 4-5-1 because we didn’t have the striker options to play 4-4-2.
    We have those strikers now.

We absolutely dominated Millwall for long periods without ever ever looking like scoring.
We have McBurnie playing wide left (???!!!) - this player is one of the best finishers in this league and he is playing wide left - rarely venturing into the middle.
We have Thiam playing wide right - he just cannot cross the ball. He isn’t a winger.

We have Moore and McBurnie who would be a handful for any Championship side - and they are playing miles apart from each other.
    WE NEED OUR WINGERS.
And we need Moore and McBurnie in the centre waiting for those crosses.

Football is a simple game - but Morais has messed about with the formation so much the players don’t know what they are supposed to be doing.

Jose Morais has been appointed because of his past record of working with Moreno and because he speaks 7 languages so he will be able to attract foreign players to the club.
But in the meantime he doesn’t know the Championship - and he’s not flexible enough to cope with it.

Not sure it’s fashionable to agree with Nudger but this just about sums up my feelings tonight.
One thing I’d take issue with regarding the above - I didn’t see any tactics from the Manager today.

I agree there seems to be a lot of confusion on the pitch, also our players are sadly lacking in confidence. Didn’t He ky reckon we weren’t good enough for 4-4-2 because we hadn’t the midfielders for this?

With all these fantastic players we keep hearing you say we have, we ought to be winning matches at a canter regardless of the ineptitude or otherwise of the Manager

Morais has done nothing(i know its early into his spell) to inspire me. Simply saying believe a lot clearly isn't working.

Having said the inability to make a 5 yard pass to a team mate is not the managers fault

From my vantage point (dead centre Upper East Stand) there seems to be no formation, no effort and no desire. The team selection appears to be carried out via some form of rock, paper, scissors. I have become so desperate for something to cheer about that after 60 seconds I cheered us managing to keep a clean sheet so far into the game.

No - Hecky said we wernt good enough for 4-4-2 because we didn’t have the strikers - so he relied on midfielders breaking into the box - playing 4-5-1.
We were crying out for those strikers since the summer - and we have those two strikers now - but they are playing miles away from each other.
Yer couldn’t foooking make this up.
    Absolutely ridiculous !!!
Not at all convinced by Morais so far.

He said we couldn’t play 442 because we aren’t strong/good enough in midfield. We weren’t then and we aren’t now

Not convinced by your reply, sure I remember Hecky interviews, ( more than once) saying we set up like that because of a lack of midfield choice for 4-4-2. Anyway, going to be interesting to see how he/ the team respond to this because confidence has to be rock bottom now.

Well if you think McBurnie/ Thiam out wide with Moore in the middle is better than Moore/ McBurnie up front as a dual striking force, then I disagree.

We're superb at packing our midfield with defenders.

Isn’t that what happened at Birmingham and Cardiff?

Usually when a new manager arrives he has a POSITIVE impact on the team.
We are far far worse now than under Hecky.
And Hecky didn’t have the luxury to have much time with the 6 new players - especially strikers - brought in during January.
So far Morais has been the worst manager I’ve seen from when Patrick Cryne first took over.

At one point today we had 4 centre forwards on the field and one winger.
    Jeez!!!
