I take it that you don't take issue with the rest of my previous post.

So.. for a winger creating the best chances means getting past the full back then pulling it back.

    Unless you're David Beckham.

Thiam is not creating chances. He's just lobbing it into the box from out wide.

Nowt creative about that. It's called crossing.

He assisted McBurnie’s first at Birmingham. He put the ball onto’s Moore’s head who knocked it down for McBurnie to slot in his second at Birmingham.

He also put it on a plate for McBurnie today with an excellent cross only for it to be cleared off the line.

That’s in addition to every other aimless cross or however you’d describe it.

It’s worth critiquing Thiam’s performance from out wide against our other supposed wingers. I imagine that he’s very much up there even after only a few games.

Totally agree. How players like Hammill or Isgrove cannot start in front of him if we are playing this formation is beyond me. He cannot beat a man and can’t cross the ball so I don’t know what he offers

Never seen him beat a man yet.

He hasn't scored in open play.

I found the youngster from Leicester far more productive - Harvey Barnes. Hammill and Isgrove are on downers, the other welsh chappie seems better off the bench.

Thiam is running out of first team chances - unless he fits into some continental set up that we're testing for League 1.

My opinion... hes dog dirt. Never been a championship standard foootballer. Hes better than me, dont get me wrong but he affects our games only slightly more than i would (assuming they could get shorts in my size). Anybody who thinks hes decent is a) his dad b) his boyfriend/girlfriend c) completley and utterly bonkers.
He cost a million quid by the way..... jeez

If you take this game alone and based solely on Sky Sports’ slimmed down 2 minute highlights he put in an excellent ball that was cleared by an outstretched leg for a corner, a cross that Moore headed on target, a cross that McBurnie headed towards goal and was cleared off the line, skinned his man and saw his goalbound shot saved and then created a chance at the end for Moore who saw his shot saved/deflected. He’s creating chances whether you like it or not.

He's crossing the ball in.. If your definition of creativity involves that alone, then I'll give you that. None led to a goal.

Nor did any of his "creative" corners (which amount to the same thing - crossing) largely because they were gash.

I’ve already said that the fact that he takes corners says more about our options than anything else. Isgrove doesn’t take corners at all and Hammill’s corners are equally bad.

If we don’t have a viable alternative on the pitch then what should we do? Thiam would be better served turning it down, presumably.

I'm not singing his praises . You are.

One save from the Millwall goalie was perhaps beyond Townsend. I'll give you that.

(I keep saying "I'll give you that" - I'll give you that)

This is twice now that you’ve added bits, i.e. corners and saves by the Millwall keeper, to the Thiam discussion. If you’re done then just call it a day.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think Townsend would’ve saved either of those attempts from Lindsay and Moncur but they were excellent saves even if he would’ve conceivably snaffled up both.

I’m done with this debate anyway, can’t be bothered going off topic. We’ll agree to disagree on Thiam and I’m sure that we both only want what’s best for the club. Have a nice weekend.

I like Adam Hammill. Top pro. Zero goals & assists this year.

He has absolutely no idea how to play football, but that's not to say he can't play football.

When he got the ball today he crossed it into the box at the earliest opportunity. I'm guessing that was the instruction from the manager. With Moore and McBurnie in the team, that would be my instruction to him too. Most of his crosses were good (Not his corners, christ knows why we're persisting with him taking those, he can't do it).

When he didn't have the ball, he didn't have a scooby where to go in order to receive it. Time and again Yiadom would run forward with the ball looking for an outlet down the wing, looking for Thiam, looking for him to make some space to receive the ball or make a run to draw the defender giving Yiadom more space. Thiam was just stood inside, next to his marker, watching. He's clueless, or bone idle, or both.

Maybe he can be coached effectively, learn what is expected of him and become a half decent player. The raw materials are there. But on the evidence so far we've wasted a lot of money.

Out of all the players you pick him? I'll tell you who was shitter yesterday by a country mile. Yiadom, Lindsay, McBurnie, Pinillos..

Not a scapegoat just should not be anywhere near a Championship squad. Admittedly like about 15 others but I think from the other replies I am not alone. Like Calvin Harris

Other replies? Out of a 13k crowd? I'd take anything on here with a pinch of salt.
