Not seen enough of him to say he is rubbish. I’ve seen enough of Gardener and Williams to say they arnt good enough together. But seems as they are on loan from bigger clubs they don’t get called rubbish. Williams constantly gives the ball away in midfield, yet plays every week. Hecky was taking us down with those 2 in midfield and this guy hasn’t changed it. I’d rather see mallan given a run of games than keep them 2 together

I think you're being incredibly harsh with that. Some of our players were embarrassingly poor yesterday but to say Mallan can't play football is stretching the truth.

One or two of his passes were the sort of incisive spreads of play we've been missing and he's the best set piece taker at the club.

I disagree. I've seen him be absolutely abject but I've also seen him look head and shoulders above his competition (which isn't hard I accept).
He certscert has some aspects to his game which are undeniably better than the likes of Williams, Gardner, moncur etc but I agree that doesn't make him a good player. It does however annoy me that other piss poor players have been given 20 or 30 games of shiteness to prove themselves while he gets 45 minutes. You may well be right and he's utter dross but he's no more dross than the others we employ.

Agree. Potts and Gardner failed to do some of the most basic things required of a footballer woefully yesterday - simple passes when unchallenged going out for throw ins, shots with time and space flying 20 yards wide.

Yet they have been mainstays in the side and are continually picked after awful performances and Stevie starts 4 or 5 games and is hauled off at half time for one mistake. I'd be looking to sack Barnsley off this summer and move to an Aberdeen or a Hearts if I were him.

I see Liam Lindsay’s getting the same treatment as Williams now, plays every week so fans get bored of him & campaign for someone who isn’t as good to start instead.

And if you want your opinion to be taken seriously at least learn to spell his name, it’s not exactly a tough one to learn & he’s been at the club 8 months.

Well I think Williams is an average player who's no worse than most of the others in our squad but isn't good enough for the championship (because I've concluded that hardly any of them are) and that Lindsay has gone backwards throughout the season. He can't find a pass anymore and when a player runs at him he shits himself. That's nothing to do with being bored of him, it's just my opinion. He looks to me like he will be day be a good player but right now he is a weak link because the opposition knows if they run at him it's a free shot

The BBS logic states the less you play the better you are. Mallan, Thiam and Townsend have all proved to not be up to the required standard yet have been at times claimed to be the messiah!

    I think you misunderstand epically.

If somebody who is playing is woefully inadequate and costing us games then people are quite right in saying we have to TRY the alternative.

If you have 3 wires on a bomb and you know one will blow you up but one could save you what do you do? You take a calculated guess and cut one. That doesn't work. What next? You can either keep cutting the same wire into little pieces and hope that it magically stops the bomb at the 59th cut or you can realise the clock is ticking and you WILL die if you carry on. At that point you may as well cut another wire because death by explosion with 3 seconds left on the clock is no worse than death by explosion with 0 seconds.

That is exactly the position we have been in especjalle with Townsend and Davies.

I didn’t. But thanks. If you can tell me how any of the players who were not getting a game but have since been tried in the first team have improved our team I’d be very grateful. Take as long as you like.

Thiam has got quite a few assists and looked to be the only bright spark yesterday.
    You still miss the point

Again I don’t. I’l spell it out exactly for you if you need that. We have ***** players. I AGREE that replacing them is a good idea. however replacing them with other ***** players (who have proven to be not as good or equally as bad) doesn’t necessarily make it a good idea. The old adage nothing ventured nothing gained could be said to be true but also so could same **** different day.

Probably. But I was so cold and pissed off I had a rant.

Yesterday it just became clear why each manager we've had this season have overlooked him so often.

He wasn’t average before Christmas. If they did player of the year on New Years Eve Williams would’ve won it by a mile & deservedly so.

Liam Lindsay would’ve been a clear second.

I’m seeing criticism for him for Millwall’s opener but he does what he’ll have been coached to do. He maintains his line with Jackson, if he presses straight away then he leaves a big gap behind him that Gregory runs into or that the player on the ball can use to play a 1-2 with Gregory & run into.

By delaying pressing him you’re encouraging the player to shoot from further out which is what you want him to do as most keepers (probably not ours) back themselves not to be beaten from 30 yards out. If anything you can say that when Lindsay does press Jackson should read the situation better & expect Gregory to make that run & possibly beat him to the ball.

But to be fair the ball’s inch perfect, any slower / faster & Lindsay / Townsend gets it.

To criticise either of the centre backs is very harsh. They shouldn’t have been put in that situation & had very little time to get organised, it wasn’t like it was a counter attack that came from the Millwall half.

But like he said we were losing with Davies costing us points on a regular basis glued to his line. So should we carry on playing him? With Williams constantly giving the ball away do we keep playing him and expect a differet result!

Yep agreed. Show me the logic in replacing a poor player with a poorer player?

No we should have bought another keeper. Is Townsend better than Davies? Is Mallan better than Williams? I think you’d struggle to find many who think so, replacing them isn’t the problem!! Super tyke failed to see that too, it’s the clamour to replace them with players who aren’t as good.

I agree with your comments and can see you understand defending , don't know if you've been a defender also I would like to see our defensive midfielders play goal side of the ball , to avoid teams breaking on us and the ball breaking in to these areas as our goalkeepers for some reason are struggling with shots from distance regarding the back four it would be good to have consistent selection I would also like to see them narrower they seem to be wide open at times
