Do we think Jose will still be here at the start of next season? In my view if we stay up then yes, if not then I'm not so sure. Would he really know how to play Alehouse League football or does he even want to? I'm reckon he came with a view to establishing a reputation in the Championship so trips to Southend, Walsall, Fleetwood and the like might not be so appealing. From the owners point off view if we go down, even though he's signed an 18 month contract, he would have failed to meet his first objective which would make it very tempting to pull the trigger.
I would have serious reservations if he stayed on in League 1. He would probably want a large-scale clearout and I don’t see the point in a wholesale clearout when many have been moaning about us having a squad largely of League 1 standard players.
He won't be here after the next 8 games, whatever Division we are playing in. It was a gamble that doesn't seem to be working and he doesn't seem to fit the vision of the new owners. It's a difficult task to find a Head Coach that will fit the ethos of the club. I'm afraid Jose doesn't do that, a little bit too negative and already blaming players.
When Redstar stated when Hecky went, anyone who comes in as new coach should be just a short term appointment. And re-appoint in the summer ..I thought he was insane.. Now I think its not only plausible, but vital... What a waste of the next 18 months if Jose allowed to run out his contract... He may be a nice fella, but what we need is someone who knows what he's doing. But I would now go further, not only finish Jose asap.. but also, whoever set him on, whoever thought this was a great idea. Np matter how high up, they would have fall on thier sword.. An absolutely baffling appointment.. Nowhere near steadying the ship but going backwards..
I don't think we can blame the Manager for our current position. We simply haven't spent enough money on the playing squad. I can see Jose seeing out his contract come what may. I think he'd stay if we were relegated. That said, I can't see either party wanting to continue into a second season in the third tier so it would be **** or bust. If we're in the Championship next season, Jose will be here. 100% for me.
If he somehow keeps us up I'm happy for him to stay next season & see out his contract. However, I really don't think he'd be a good fit for League 1 & I'd expect his departure if we do get relegated.
We can't. Not in the slightest. But watching the substitutions on Saturday was like watching a kid who'd won the chance to manage a professional football team for the day. "Let's just chuck more forrads on, we're bound to score." It was embarrassing. Maybe it was a one off aberration. Or maybe he hasn't a clue what he's doing. I dunno, I guess we'll see.
On the evidence so far (which is limited, and probably unfair to judge him on) he is struggling with the bottom end of the Championship, let alone League One. He probably can't work out why some of our players are unable to do the basics. His stats (based on 7 games) are now below Hecky's (30 games this season with us). I really don't see him staying for the third tier, and I don't see him doing well if he does. It's a tricky one, because we approached him, so credibility is at stake here. Still - it's a long journey, we're told! Wake me up when we're getting there.
As opposed to Real Madrid? Chelsea? Ipswich? Time is perfect for Mick to manage his home town team. Our post Hecky predicament called out for his appointment. We cocked up and it looks like costing us dear.
Definitely. He was my first choice to replace Hecky. If we are recruiting again in the summer he has to be on the short list at the very least.
If we're in League 1 I could see him coming as a Director of Football with someone like Sir Bobby running things Pitchside. The only way he'd come as a full-on Manager is if we're still a Championship Club.
